Join the war in Ukraine or turn a blind eye

With a special military operation,(War), happening in Ukraine can we afford to go to their aid with money and weapons. Our national debt is over a trillion dollars due to COVID.
The Labor government promised to raise basic wages, but this will only increase that debt and cause further price rises and inflation.
Banks/ power/food/fuel and building costs are increasing.
So should we be looking after ourselves or trying to help keep democracy alive by sending help to stop the war.

I don't agree with many of your "it's either this or it's that" statements / assumptions. They are too emotionally extreme, allow for no middle ground or alternatives and lack historical understanding. There is not just black or white. There are more than fifty shades of grey. I invite you to re-visit your topic, with the added benefit of hindsight, and correct or expand upon the multitude of factually inaccurate hype being issued. Google (or better) is also helpful.

I don't think we should be getting involved in this situation. We have provided aid and that is where it should end. We have enough issues in Australia with very little government assistance. Time to turn our assistance to home.

I think we have to support other nations, even when our own is suffering.
It's not like there's an easy fix to our current problems, so do we just stop supporting other nations for the next 20 years?
I don't believe we should send troops, but I do believe we should continue to send aid in both military and humanitarian forms.

Russia's invasion into Ukraine is illegal under International Law. The UN needs more power rather than having to wait until a peace deal is wanted to be brokered by both parties.
I don't support war so I don't think Australia should send military aid at all. I don't support Australia having a defence budget as I see it as a waste of money and perpetuates fear and the proliferation of weapons in a region.

Hi everyone is entitled to their opinion, but i dont understand your stance on not having a defense budget. Like what do you do if another country invades you. If Ukraine didnt have weapons then...

Some of us are pacifists. I would never be part of a resistance but rather would comply with a new regime. History happens, it changes the status quo and will continue to do so in the future. I don't support countries being invaded and really it would be better if individuals weren't after power, territory and a glorious legacy. It isn't a behaviour of people that can be changed.

I don't...

Hi everyone is entitled to their opinion, but i dont understand your stance on not having a defense budget. Like what do you do if another country invades you. If Ukraine didnt have weapons then Russia would have just walked in and taken them over. Defense doesn't make you a target. Not having any defense certainly does though. If we didn't have weapons then Japan would have have taken us over in the 2nd world war. The Greens dont want to spend money on our new subs but without them China will eventually invade us. Weapons result in mutual deterrent between countries.

In my opinion, what all governments should do is to help put the end to this war.
In Australia we are suffering enough from increasing living costs and our government should focus on supporting its nation.
