Is the war between Iran, Israel, and the United States necessary?

The recent conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States began after escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and regional influence. Some argue the war was necessary to prevent future threats, while others believe it could have been avoided through diplomacy.

Was military action justified to stop potential nuclear threats?
• Could diplomacy have prevented the conflict?
• Do the consequences (civilian casualties, economic impact) outweigh the reasons for war?
• Who benefits the most—and who suffers the most—from this conflict?
• Do you think this war has made the world safer or more unstable?

Good topic. Thanks for posting this. I am confused about these issues. For a start, I don't think diplomacy or negotiations could have worked. You can't reach an agreement with terrorists who want the Western world to buckle under religious control. I don't believe you can ever take the culture out of the person. Just look at the way the Muslim women wear their headdress throughout the world, even though they are suppressed and silenced in their own country. It could be that they are fearful of retaliation by the government, but despite this I think their religion is their culture, which is hard to change. Trump continually changes his mind on his position. Whether this is an economic ploy or just a political game is not known, but I agree their is a threat to the West, because Iran is volatile and unstable. I am unsettled by the thought of them building nuclear warheads. Also, this war has highlighted fossil fuels again. Green energy is important, but we still need fossil fuels for industry and energy or our way of life will collapse. I think Australia needs to seriously consider oil refining and storage in this country, to be as independent as we can.

Great perspective on this contentious issue. Avoiding a war would have been great but, as you say, you can't buck culture and this regime is intent on converting, by terror, the whole world.
