Is it just me or are becoming more and more like America, every day there is a shooting or stabbing somewhere, so many drugs around these days as well.
And youth crime is just getting worse and worse.
The police are not coping, and Government and politicians just seem to not care or just cannot be bothered to get really tough with these offenders.

As for youth detention centers they are not doing anything to deter the young, I think they look at it as a holiday.
It is all very sad and scary.

I'd say more like the U.K. with knife crime rather than the U.S. and shootings as guns aren't that readily available in Australia.
As for the youth, they don't have any respect for other or themselves and these days with the youth detention centres majority Indigenous youth there is a fear around deaths in custody and many sensitivities that have meant the system isn't as robust, effective or as much of a deterrent as previously due to Indigenous youth lacking accountability.
