Do women in Australia really care what they look like in swimwear?
Do they really go out and try to find the right suit?
What is a paying rate for a range of suites that fit well, look great and do not come off in water and go to the No go zones and show the dread C-Toe?

I would love to here any real feedback please

I find buying bathers to be really traumatic. I care very much how I look but as I'm a size 20 it can be very demoralising. I will pay $150 -$200 if I can find something I feel comfortable in, which is pretty rare. How I hate that walk to and from the pool!!

Yes of course Australian women care about their appearance in swim suits. It is one of the most difficult pieces of clothing to buy. Many women shop carefully for the right swimsuit to suit their body shape and style.

Women definitely care what they look like in swimwear. I think that women are willing to pay extra money if their swim suit owns up to its claims and actually makes them feel comfortable and confident.
Yes, expensive swimwear $100+ per piece do look fantastic but not all the time. careful shopping can definitely find you swimwear on a budget that still looks fantastic.

They certainly do, but unfortunately for the larger figure it is difficult to find something flattering. I on the other hand am lucky to have a petite figure and i only spend about $50-60 on a new pair each summer. I feel that finding the right swim suit is only half the hassle, working out to look good in it is the other half.

It's definitely hard to find swimsuits in Australia. Of course women are going to care what they look like, especially if they're in a public place such as a beach or pool and/or have confidence issues to begin with.
I don't think many designers take into consideration the vast majority of body shapes that exist out there. I find it difficult to find swimsuits for myself. I'm 19, I'm 5'9, and a little too much on the thin side. My problem is that I'm almost COMPLETELY flat chested, barely fitting into an A bra, with an extremely long torso, but when it comes to my bottom half, my Greek background shines through, with my larger rear and thighs. Swimsuits that come in pairs either fail to cover me completely at the bottom, or fall off me from the top, and the pieces sold separately aren't always as tasteful as those sold in sets. I have tried one pieces, but they never seem to fit properly as my torso gets in the way. I've found that the best buy for my body type is Zimmermann by far! The bandu style top fits comfortably around by barely-there bust, and comes with a detachable neck strap for those who want added support, and the bottoms cover my rear enough for me to feel comfortable. The prints are always divine and although rather pricey, I don't hesitate in the slightest to pay anything up to $350 for a swimsuit from there because I know 100% that I'm not only getting a quality Australian product, but it fits perfectly, it looks fantastic, I feel comfortable, and it'll last me FOREVER! I still have a Zimmermann swimsuit I purchased 3 years ago and it's in perfect condition! Looks brand new!

Yes women in australia care about how they look in swimmers. I think for some its one of the hardest things to buy, along with jeans, as its so personal to your body shape and comfort levels. I personally would not spend over $70 for a swim suit but i do drool over one that are $150 plus and would look like they would fit loads better and be better quality than their cheaper partners.

indeed they do! women have pressure to look good, if us women go out and feel uncomfortable with our own bodies, then how are we suppose to have a good time? it's also hard to find good bathers that wont wear out,

They & we certainly do, as they really show the shape of our bodies. Just like a bra, the 'girls' still need support. Then depending on what your actually going to do, like swimming or just lying around in them and occassionally swimming in them. As they all have different purpose. There is a great price difference between them. As well as were you go to get them as well. Most women try feveriously to try to find the right one, some are very lucky and some are not. The swimsuit is forever revolving, so you'l never know in the near future what technology can achieve.

Hi, I am a larger lady who certainly cares what she looks like. I find it very hard to find a swimsuit that does not look frumpish and oldfashioned. I am a size 18, curvy as opposed to rolls and lumps and I want something that is flattering but sexy. I have to say that on my last shopping spree looking for a swimsuit (bikini actually as I love to sunbathe) I got a great bargain from Seafolly - beautiful bikini with boy shorts for a bargain price of $28.00, just because it was a previous season - I don't care which season it is as long as it looks good. FANTASTIC!

Yes, I think Australian women do care what they look like in a swimwear. Obviously if a woman is a large person, it makes it a bit hard to wear 'slinky swimwear', but you still can look lovely in swimwear as long as it's tasty.
Swimwear can be very expensive from certain places, just depends where you shop. I payed $75.00 for mine, just a black swimsuit, low back, very nice. As I am now 60, I do feel a bit embarassed to walk along the beach, so I wear a pair of shorts over my swimsuit.!

I have just spent $179.00 for a swimsuit. It was supposed to be my size, I did all the measurements and it was nowhere near the size it was supposed to be.
My dresses, underwear etc are all that size, so I do not think I was wrong. That swimsuit was supposed to have had a large discount too. I am not very happy, returned it as requested and received an email to say I will probably have to wait 4-6 weeks for the money refund/
I will not try there again. I bought one from Target a couple of years ago and it was only $55.00 and I can just squeeze into it. That is why I needed another one.
I have noticed that many large ladies who do classes in the pools go to Big W and Target they say but very early in the season. Maybe you will have luck there. They are very good looking swimmers, good bust support and tummy flattening. Hope this helps.

Everyone cares! The media makes us feel like we need to look a certain way therefore what we look like in bathers matters!!

I haven't met a woman yet, who doesn't care about how she looks in a swim suit. Because most of your body is on show, it needs to be a very good fit. I have seen a few people in recent years, wearing something that may not suit their body style, but still fits. It could be that they like the style and are unaware that it doesn't really suit them.

Having just returned from a beach holiday it became apparent to me that ALOT of women either don't look in the mirror before they hit the beach or they just dont care about what they look like. I was rather shocked at some of the women I saw flashing way more flabby skin than I needed to see.
I think that alot of swimwear is vastly over-priced, but it is quite often the more expensive pieces that fit the best, so I guess you get what you pay for at the end of the day..

Women definitely care how they look in a swimsuit, women will go shopping for days sometimes to find the correct swimsuit, and as far as I can guess, you can pay anywhere from $150 up for the correct and best swimsuit.

I care a lot! My two children literally left their marks on my stomach and it's been a bit devastating to discover I can't ever wear a two piece again...especially as I'm only 25!! So trying to find a full piece that is sexy and flattering and not too expensive has been a bit of a nightmare.

I live in Australia and yes i really seem to care what i look like in swimwear,
its quite hard to find a good swimsuit which actually fits my body type well. i am a bit self conscious of my body shape so i seem to struggle to find that perfect swim suit. i have been looking for a swim suit for quite sometime and i have found a few but they are a little price-y ill have to wait and see.

Yes I think Australian women care what they look like in a swim suite. I have an odd size body my top is a 14 but sometimes a 12 fits, I'm a C or D cup it all depends on the brand. My bottoms are generally a 14. So sometimes it makes it hard to buy swimsuit's if I'm not able to mix and match. Full piece suites are great if you are swimming for fitness or racing but for general use most of us like the 2 piece suites.

100% i think that women care about their swimwear..
i personally like to have something that no one has and will spend over $200 if i really like a swim suit... i think a main reason for this is the whole American thing that they look so glamorours on the beach... I think women want to feel beautiful no mattar where they are.

I think most people care how they look in swimwear in not only Australia but the world, not everybody but I'm sure a lot of us do...I know I do atleast. You can get swimsuits for various prices depending on the brand. I'd pay $100-$150 for one if i have to but I try to bargain hunt on ebay, which is a good place to get not only a bargain but also a swimsuit that nobody else is likely to have. If your looking for something that wont come off in the water I'd go for a one piece and probably not a strapless or bandeau style bikini. Hope i helped answer you're questions :)

I haven't been able to get a one-piece to fit me for decades. I am almost 5ft11, "cuddly" and have a large belly, but no butt to speak of, and have an E/F cup size. I cannot get one long enough in the body to even get over my shoulders, and everything gapes at the top of the thighs becasue I have normal, slim thighs, then a protruding belly. I have tried to get maternity ones with more room in the belly, but they seem to thing all "pregnant" women are wither shorter than 5 ft5 or prefer two-piece bathers so they can show off their baby bumps. Tankinis are always too shot and the bottoms don't cover anything, and always gape at the legs (even boy leg ones gape), so I am relegated to wearing cycle shorts (Since I also can't find comfortable boardies to fit either, and they look gross) and a too-short tankini top which barely supports my E/F cups. I used to wear a bikini top underneath as well, but it wore out and I have been unable to find another that fits and is not a halter top (they hurt my neck due to the weight of my breasts) and doesn't show too much under the tankini, which is also rapidly wearing out.

I have tried regular stores. I have tried specialty swimwear/lingerie stores for larger women (like Four Seasons) and I have even considered having one made, but that is price-prohibitive at over $200 - I cannot justify that much on any single item of clothing - even my wedding dress was not that expensive!

I just do not understand why bathers are so difficult to make for larger women, and so freaking expensive when not a "normal" size...

Women in Australia sure do care about what they look like in swimwear. Personally i dont go all out and try to find the right suit because if i just see a swimmer that i like anywhere i would just get that rather then going to exensive places just to swim in. the rate for a range of suities is around $50-$150

Certainly most women do care what they look like, I used to worry a lot, these days I am not so worried, I do spend $160 on myself for swimwear every couple of years,so I feel good, not the looks, would not make any difference with me.

Yes women definitely care what they look like. The most frustrating thing is when you are a different size on top to what you are at the bottom. Unless you buy separates, it's very difficult to find a matching suit that will accommodate this situation.

I know I care what i look like in a swimwear!!!

I like to wear something thats different and that nobody else will have.
But most importantly it must fit perfectly. I usually end up buying separate top and bottom, so i can get a good fit - only disadvantage is that it cost me more.
