Gosh the food items in the supermarkets are shrinking in size! Amazing. It's really noticeable. The cheeky manufacturers. Biscuits, drinks, canned goods, frozen foods. You name it. I get them home from the store and can only shake my head. Biscuits have shrunk. Buy a pack of Wagon wheels, especially. So skinny. Sad situation where this is going on but it's happening everywhere.

It isn't like this is the first time it has happened. Manufacturers always have to cut costs in hard times and this will keep continuing whenever an economic crisis occurs. I know the frustration is around paying more for less.
The only benefit is that you aren't consuming as many calories as when an edible product offering was larger. As for soap bars decreasing in size or containers of non edible products, there is no positive to paying more for less here.

Agree! Shrinking in size but increasing in prices every visit to the supermarket.

LITTLEPUSS -your observation is so accurate at the supermarket we are getting less but paying more and the packages are filled with air. I always purchase the larger sizes of items in the hope the cost will be less but have been very disappointed to discover the one litre bottles of various items are now 900mls, the blocks of cheese are 900 grams, meat packaging sizes have shrunk it is so disheartening. l can imagine the stress of purchasing the weekly groceries for a family of 4 plus places on the them. I always check all the special catalogues and go as far as comparing grams when making my purchases on line. Luckily the supermarkets to click and collect from are as so close to each other that l do not waste money on petrol driving all over town to collect. I find that my local supermarket which has generally has dearer prices for most items actually have really good meat reductions which l buy and freeze and l also go to a greengrocer for most fruit and vegie on the way for my click and collect to save money. I always go to Aldi, first, all this does take time but my savings do add up. I realise that is not practical for a very busy family but as a self funded retiree on a very strict budget l save where ever l can. I very seldom purchase prepared meals way too expensive for what you get -anyone can make a marinade it isn't rocket science and dining out will cost me the price of a weeks groceries. These costs remind me of my childhood when money was tight and everything was so expensive.
