Hiya Calamity,

Lemon Juice works well on rust, or good old Coke also works
Tablets that people use to clean their dentures, will remove almost any difficult stain.

Hope this helps :)
Enjoy your weekend

CLR it or WD40. Definitely works.

Hydrochloride acid is good. Follow directions on the bottle.

Too easy! Drop by your local hardware store and pick up a bottle of rust remover/killer, use as directed.Slightly dearer ( but same stuff ) CLR or mag wheel cleaner. A bit less effective ( usually needing several applications - rinses ) and cheaper too is plain old Coca cola as it contains the same ( diluted ) ingredient, namely Phosphoric acid. Don't forget to wash off afterwards.

Hi Nurph, I will give the rust remover/killer another go, as I have tried it too and nothing happened. I just need to be persistent.

Hi Thunderful, my replay is probably late as I have had a knee replacement and been out of action. I have tried CLR and it did not work either. I really think that the hose stand was in water on the tiles for too long when we had the big floods.

Hi Calamity, I will search my old handy hints books out, and get back to you on this one. I'm sure there is a solution to this.

Try baking soda and white vinegar made into a paste. It should move it, if not, salt and vinegar should do the trick, made into a paste and rubbed on and rinsed off.

Hi Bernitto, I tried those ages ago but it did not work and I am really stumped as to how to get rid of the rust mark. I will try these methods again and leave on longer.

A bit of elbow grease usually works wonders.
Maybe some sugar soap and a hard scrubbing brush might do the trick?
Possibly a high pressure cleaner?

I'm pretty sure there are a number of different tiles so it would depend on what the tiles are made of as to what else you could use.

Good luck.

Hi Captured, the tiles are ceramic and I have tried elbow grease which did not work. I have not used sugar sopa but I will give it a try.

rust should not be growing on tiles
are you sure it is not mould?
is water dipping on to it from a tin roof?
is there concrete next to the tiles?

Hi ozycash, the rust is from when the hose reel was sitting on it and we had heaps of rain. Only discovered when I moved it to clean and wash the tiles. It is definitely not mould.

Hi Calamity. Try CLR on it and see if the trust mark goes away. Worth a try.

I had a hose stand on the tiles and when we had the big floods there was water everywhere. It is definitely not mould, water is not dripping on it from a tin roof and there is no concrete next to the tiles. I was probably too late in trying to get rid of the rust as we did have lots of rain and I could not get to it. The rust is not growing on the tiles it came from the hose stand being in water for too long.
