Please tell me there are some other people out there who believe that parents need to be parenting their kids - giving them guidance; praise and disciplining them instead of giving them everything they want and scared to upset them because they may no longer be their "best friend"!!!
I went out to a party the other day and an 11 year old girl was talking to her mother so nastily and behaving badly - and I said to the mum "why havent you told her off - or disciplined her" and she said - she will get upset and if I do that in public she wont think I am her friend and I want her to be able to come to me with anything when she is older!"
Does anyone else think this is wrong?????????? There is no way I would allow my children to talk to anyone the way that girl did - and I believe that if they are allowed to continue to behave like that her mum may be the only friend she does have because I dont think anyone else would tolerate it.
What do you all think?

I agree completely! Society these days is getting out of control... I am only 18 but I can see what going on around me, children smoking, getting drunk, IN PUBLIC! and their parents don't even seemed the slightest bit bothered by it all.. I was raised thinking my mother was tough but when I look back I am very proud of her for sticking to her guns and keeping me in line. I don't go out partying every night and I definetely don't smoke, yes I am not as popular as all the other 18 year olds in this town but at least I can say I am able to control the urge to get 'wasted' just to fit in....
And I agree with your point about the attitude kids show towards their parents. My younger brother is the same as he was spoilt, he lashes out and threatens everyone when he doesn't get what he wants and it is discusting to watch.. And I always see the younger generation from my school writing horrible things about their parents on Facebook.

Sorry if my post was too long, I am just glad to see someone has the same opinion as I do.
