I have given birth to 3 children and have no stretch marks. I gained excessive weight during the last two pregnancies too - over 80kg!! All I ever used was good old fashioned Virgin Olive Oil after every shower, and before bed. Don't need a lot, just enough to absorb into the skin. Was even great for breasts when breast feeding, and I used Wool Fat to ensure nipples stayed soft.
Even now in my 60's I still use it every day, even in the sun, but SPF on my face and a hat. I have no age spots and am constantly complimented on my skin and hair. Even use it on my hair once a month - keeps it healthy and shiny.......use about 3 tablespoons, rub it into my scalp at night, sleep with an old pillow, pillow case and small towel, and shampoo out next morning. Great old fashioned and natural product.

So many people have stretch marks in today's society! Young girls are getting them when they hit puberty because of the massive changes to their bodies and fluctuations in weight. With all the additives in food young girls are being stripped of their best bikini body years because they already have stretch marks. If you've had children and have stretch marks then you don't have anything to be ashamed of.

hello

im 20 years old and have the same problem. i have terrible stretch marks on my stomach and hips and even on my boobs. i used to be so self conscious and ashamed of my body but then i realised that instead of looking at them as a fault, look at them in a positive way. i see them as my trophy of what beautiful thing i did and now i have an amazing 8 month old baby boy.

but on the other hand, Vit E oil works really well, you can buy that just from a chemist or even some supermarkets.
I've seen some people use lemon juice as well and i hear that works just as well.

i hope that helps!

Bio oil works but takes a little time just keep using it and you should notice them fading.

I have used Bio Oil on my strech marks and on scars that I have had for a long period of time and if you use it religiously it does improve the colour of them :)

Mina's suggestion of a dermaroller is a good one (I've actually used that on my face). It encourages new skin to develop.

Bio oil is also good for scars and stretchmarks.

I've been overweight ever since I left highschool and still am :( though I'm slowly getting my health back on track I still have stretch marks (the white faded ones), I've recently been using kojic acid and it really has worked on them :) even papaya soap has faded it away too :)

You can still see them but its not as visible as it were before.
Hope this helps

hi, I purchased a product online from the US called TriLastin. You are required to apply the Skin Prep and leave for a few minutes which opens up the pores, and then apply the actual Oil, which then repairs the skin cells.

It was a great product... Not cheap, but well worth it... Try it for about 12 months and I guarantee you will see significant change.

Yes, Bio Oil was OK, however, I found for me, it did not work as effectively as TriLastin.

Good Luck

I have never been particularly overweight, underweight, pregnant or even had significant growth spurts growing up but I have been battling stretch marks some I was 12 years old. I'm just really lucky I guess. I have fluctuated in weight but only by the odd 5kilos over or under here and there but it seems I keep getting new ones weekly. I have used all sorts of vitamin e creams and lotions, bio oil, but rosehip seems to do the best. However you have to use certain strength ones to make any real attack on them, can't remember the name of the brand (I'll repost when it comes to me -I know it by package and have just run out), but on the negative side it's not cheap and it's so potent that it will stain all your clothes -no chance of getting it out. I have my stretch mark clothes as I would put it on at night time every three-four days and go to bed and in between just use a body moisturiser with vitamin e in it. If you use bio oil too often you get little red spots, like a rash, not quite developed pimples but nearly. Even if its on your tummy it's an oil and not good for your pores at all! I don't use rosehip every night though for that reason (though not as bad as bio oil) but also as I like to be able to wear nice pyjamas. I also once or twice a week use a few drops of rosehip on my face as its so intensive but would never use bio oil on my face.

When in hospital they gave us some cream to prevent stretch marks I applied it all the time, my wife enjoyed these "massages" I also used "extra virgin olive oil and my wife does not have any stretch marks, now those of you that do, don't be distraught you should be proud of them, they are not stretch marks they are "TIGER STRIPES" and you earned them wear them with pride

If you really want your stretch marks gone, find a salon or spa near you that offers IPL, or any other laser treatment.
usually with these therapists they also have treatments for stretch marks (i forget what its call exactly). they work wonders!

Hi I am having a kid and facing the same stretch mark problem. I heard that when body is stretching in pregnacy itching will be there that time we should not scratch our body. If we scratches more then marks will be more. Instead of that we should apply sum oil or lotion which doctor will priscribe us.

Cocoa butter moisturisers are really good,Bio oil also reduces the apperance of stretch marks. If you are excercising to get back your shape generally with a balanced diet, you can see the fade rapidly as your skin will tighten with the excercising, I also use vaseline, which i find very helpful and wont react to most skin types

Look at investing at a dermaroller.
It has microneedles that you roll over the affected area, and helps promote collagen production you lighten scars [including stretch marks and acne scars]
then use something like Vitamin E/Bio Oil and rub it in, so that the skin absorbs it better!

Hey you can cocoa butter still works on stretch even if time has passed. I had really bad stretch marks from puberty that i didn't really do anything four year. Coca butter works wonders. I used cocoa butter formal jar from Palmer's. It prefect for scars or marked skin.

Definately, moisturizing daily, preferably after a shower or bath, works wonders, no matter how long you've had stretchmarks/scars. I started using Palmer's cocoa oil recently, after 8 years of stretchmarks, and the results are amazing.

I have 4 kids (9, 7, 2 & 1) and didn't use any creams during my pregnancies either and i ended up with stretch marks too.
They have faded as the years have gone on, and i have come to live with the fact that my stretch marks show i have had four wonderful children (although my caesarean section scar/s show that too).

I used bio oil for my first child and got one tiny stretch mark which left.
When i had my second child i was too lazy to stick with using bio oil everyday so i got heaps of stretch marks. My stretch marks now have gone skin colour so they dont look as ugly. I think the goat soap would definately work.
There yoused to be scar cream Currumban Wildlife Sanctuary yoused to have and when i was 15 i had a massive scar and it worked..I have tried getting it again since i've had kids but its not available anymore. I dont remember the name of it though but it was something to do with honey.

Was it Manuka honey perhaps? I don't know about people, but a friend of mine has used it on her horse when he cut his leg open on barbed wire and it helped it heal without scarring.

Thanks for the bio-oil tip!! I am pregnant with my first child and have been spending a fortune on Kora products to reduce stretch marks and was almost about to give up but didnt know what to try...

if you honestly stick with the routine and using it at least 2-3x a day, you wont have a problem. It really does work as long as you use it alot. I just wish i did it for my second child. Just remember that being lazy and not doing it will just make you regret it afterwards. A tip aswell, use it after birth for a little bit aswell, as your body would of just been 9months bigger than shrunk all of a sudden. My nan used bio oil and had 5kids and got one stretch mark, but she told me to stick to the routine or i would regret it :-( which i did. Congratulations on your new bub.

I agree with Raka that Bio Oil is the best to use for stretch marks. I have used it on a facial sacr too and it had done wonders and made the scar fade. It has also helped fade stretch marks too. So give it a go as I am sure you will be pleased but be patient for results.

Hi there I had stretch marks after child birth, but I really don't anymore. I use goats milk soap with a natural body loofa in the shower, thoen i use pure olive oil to moistures. Every now and then I used a body mask for even tones. Give that a go its worked for me.

I tried everything to get rid of my stretchmarks including Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lotion and Bio Oil but nothing has really worked for me. There are several factors which affect the skins natural ability to produce and maintain collagen levels such as a persons diet, pregnancy (as you know) and smoking. Some people just have less collagen in their skin and therefore, are more prone to stretchmarks. It's unfortunate, but I've grown to accept that mine are just there. I still continue to use Bio Oil & Cocoa Butter Lotion to prevent them from getting worse.

I have the same problem as you and I try not to worry as I know I had beautiful kids why I have them, and make sure you keep that in mind. Although I too can understand how you are feeling right ow. I have not tried this but I have been advised to try bio oil and to continously keep using it, and it makes changes. Another I have heard is to contantly use cocoa butter on your skin, do let me know how you get on
