I have a ragdoll as well, and like yours, mine doesn't act like a typical ragdoll either! Don't get me wrong, he is such a sweet heart, but he has a very timid temperament, and although he likes to occasionally sit on your lap, he is so independant! My domestic on the other hand, you cant get him off your lap! he always has to be with you- follows you to the toilet and all! so funny how they all have their different personalities.

I love all types of animals, but cats are my favourite. I have an 8yr old Siamese seal point at home. He is more like a human than a cat. And he seems to play fetch better than my poodle. Amazingly, he understands everything and he is a complete chatterbox. He was super protective of me when I was pregnant, and wouldn't let anyone touch me. I love him to bits. And most of all, my cat and my 2yr old get along really well.

We call my ragdoll 'Lil Dog', as shes more of a dog than a cat! We have a very active burmese who I think she tries to copy-you pick my meisha up and she only flops a little bit, she ties to chase you around the house but cant quite seem to figure out how to get you! Shes very selfish though-she refuses to share my bed with anyone but me! Most gorgeous thing I have ever fallen in love with, wouldnt change her for the world!

I have a seal point Siamese. He behaves like a person. He is a great company to me especially when I was pregnant. He used to always protect my big belly. And now he is very protective of my little one. Making sure anyone new that comes to our house, he will guide my son all the time. He has a big personality and very vocal, especially when he wants something.

We have a ragdoll, he is a real character, and idolises my husband. Real personality.

We have a Devon Rex (because of allergies) and in true rex fashion she thinks she's a dog and acts like it. Wouldn't have any other breed now.

I have a Birman, she is so gentle and sweet, scratches on her post on command, fussy to the point where she only eats fish varieties and juicy one, not dry pate types, and only likes one flavor of dry food too.

I have an Abbysinian Cat ,she grew up with another Abby cat who was her Aunt, at first they used to fight, the Aunt called Cindy had to show her dominance . They eventually became firm friends. After 14 years Cindy died, my little cat whose name is Candy misses her and is often looking for Cindy behind the drappes and curtains, she calls her with small MeOwees, she never used to MeOwee before Cindy died. Candy is now 15 years old , she is the most loveable little cat and loves our company ,she loves to cuddle up on my wife or my lap and go to sleep. She is our Baby.

I have a half-ragdoll, half something else - we're not sure what the father was. She is beautiful, so flopsy, pure white with just a hint of cream on her back, with lovely bright blue eyes. She lays on the floor all day long, and loves having her belly scratched. She'd lay there all day and let me scratch her belly, but forget it about taking a brush anywhere near her. the instant she sees a brush, she starts biting me.
mouse

I have a Birman, or should I say the Birman has me! He is most gorgeous creature, all personality and attitude...never boring! He thinks he is a dog and is extremely loyal, but I could do without the constantly being underfoot. If fact, a lot of people meeting him also think he is a dog! He is a very big boy, not fat. A friend of mine has two small dogs (beautiful animals!) and she told me their combined weights added up to my cat. Obviously, not big dogs!
flyingace
hi pietam6 , your cat sounds wonderful and my vet keeps telling me my cat have to lose weight but i think its her fur.

My favorite is a shelter cat. Because when you adopt one of these you are literally saving a life. When you buy from a breeder you are condemning a shelter cat to death. It's as straightforward as that. So if you're a genuine cat lover wouldn't you rather save a life than take one away? I have had cats for most of the last 55 years - every one a moggie - and they have all been delightful individuals with their own quirks and personalities. Currently I have 2 plus a dog.

Hi Flyingace. So sorry to hear of your bad luck with that shelter cat. But that can happen with animals from breeders too - friends of mine bought a pure-bred puppy that had to be euthenased after only a few months. I would be surprised if your cat was sick when you got her as these days shelter vets check them over pretty thoroughly and keep them on the premises until they are well again. But I guess it would be impossible to test for every possibility. If an animal does get sick shortly after purchase most shelters will treat it for free. Do you know what the disease was? Final point - crossbreeds of any species are usually healthier than pure-breds because they are not the result of inbreeding so have better genetic diversity.

hi Viv i brought a cat from a shelter and i only had her for 1 year i had to put her down she had a very bad disease.
maggie

I have a 2 year old male ragdoll and he too does not act like a ragdoll breed. He hates being groomed and scratches and bites when I am grooming him.
He is a darn fussy eater. Does not like anything with meat in it. The food has to be some sort of fish.
flyingace
My is Heidi she is a blue ragdoll and does your cat follow you around everywhere you go.
broadybob
No problems. I have just started doing it myself. It helps.
My cat's name is Ande. What's the name of your cat??
flyingace
no I haven't that is a good idea thanks for letting me know
broadybob
and their teeth are darn sharp too. Have you tried wearing a glove or even a long woolen sock on your hand??
flyingace
I also cut her knots out but she still bites me.
broadybob
hmmm. I cannot get my rag doll to lay on my lap to grrom his belly.
I have just started this week for him to get comfortable on some furniture and snoozing. If he is belly up I then try and cut the knots out as advised by the vet and the brush his belly. I am finding it a bit easier on my hands. He doesn't seem to lash out or bite as much.
flyingace
My ragdoll is very fussy with the food I give her and she hates being combed she bites and scratches me. The only thing she does is lays of the floor and legs open thats all she does.
flyingace
thank you

I have never had a pedigree cat. Just a crazy cat lady who thinks they are G-D's little gifts to earth.
