I know resolutions aren't as popular as they once were - but I'd love to hear everyones goals for the new year! What is everyone planning to get up to in 2025?!

I didnt make a resolution so as a family, I sat with my daughter and her 2 kids and we decided that we would change a behaviour for the year. Mine was to be more aware and find the good in everything that happens in my day, no matter what...gratefulness.

Mine actually wasn’t a new year resolution. Was a Movember resolution to raise money via growing the Mo and walking. Since then I’ve average 10kms a day walking and I’m down 13kgs!!

$1000 raised for Movember and some self satisfaction

My goal is to read more books. Not audio books, but actual books. Reading at bedtime to unwind and relax, rather than sitting in front of the TV. It's January, but so far so good...

I used to make New Year's resolutions but I never keep them. So now, I just try to survive towards the year ahead and hope for the best, by taking it one day at a time. Anything great that comes my way won't go astray. I'll definitely be counting my blessings when they do! Let's hope it's a good year for me and all

Studying the craft of writing. There comes a time when you have to stop thinking about it and just do it, as Nike once said. I started the year with Bronchitis, so far it’s been great, haven’t seen the light of day since new year. I love being alone in my room away from people. When I get well I’ll have to face reality again.

Every year I think of things that I can improve on and consider resolutions. I give it a half hearted go and am then disappointed in myself for letting them go before January. But this year, after going through some tough times and losing family members recently, I've resolved to take better care of myself. I've been getting up early to exercise and I'm trying intermittent fasting through the week and so far, I'm sticking to it. I think I might have it this year because I'm committed to being healthy and present for my family.

I don't believe in new years resolutions. I believe everyday is a celebration because it's a new day and what a blessing it is to have another day, more time with loved ones, another day to get to go to work and help others and be paid to help towards life and experiences and travel. Each day is an opportunity to set goals, make plans and go wherever your heart wants you to.

You don't need a new year to have or set goals or start something new and you certainly don't need to wait for another year to give yourself permission to have goals to better get to where you want.

Celebrate every day!

Well said and I agree wholeheartedly. Live each day and enjoy it with your loved ones and friends. Don't need to wait for a new year to do things. You are the only one who can make things happen when you like

I've set some goals for the coming year, I have a fresh sense of optimism and non procrastination.
I intend to clear out the kitchen cupboards etc.
I also will involve myself in becoming more a more skilled and competent DIY'er.
I will establish a proper home computer office with a a proper desk and ergonomic chair that won’t turn my spine into a boomerang. I've already put in a filing system for home papers and utility bills etc.
It's amazing just how much stuff I accumulate in a short space of time, so I will do a declutter. I think that homes are just more usable and relaxing when they’re less crammed.
I intend to cut my energy use, so hopefully It'll be a win-win resolution if I can cut both my carbon footprint and my utility bills and try to deal with my bills immediately.
I will make my home more pleasant be freshening up with coats of paint...already started.

My sole goal for 2025 (just like 2023 and 2024) is to survive and *not* get covid again. Nothing more, nothing less. 2024 was a close call on more than one occasion, but I am still here. My aim is to get through another 365 days with debilitating long covid and hope it stops giving me new conditions alongside for once.

I am determined to do all I can to help our struggling planet because heaven knows, it needs our help so badly! Climate change sceptics could do well to think about the catastrophic climate events that we have witnessed around the world, over the last few years - no more catastrophic perhaps than the fires in California recently. Mother Nature is not happy. WE simply MUST ALL do our bit. Every bit helps! Every bit! I simply cannot, in all conscience, ignore the plight of the endangered wildlife and the appalling condition of our rivers, oceans and earth. Small adjustments to the way we go about our daily lives, CAN help. It is a global effort that is needed. Collectively we can make a difference. We have to stop the excesses. Don't but clothes that you know are produced in tin sheds in far-flung lands. Under normal circumstances you would not set foot into these dreadful places to buy your clothes, so why is buying this rubbish on-line different? Added to that they are made of cheap polyester . . . . which ends up in landfill to take hundreds of years to break down (if, indeed, they actually do). All the while, the toxic fumes that emanate from the mountains of it are SO damaging to our planet. Please STOP!
So, my resolution is to do my bit! How about you? Could you help?

I never make resolutions, but this year I am going to make a real effort to be healthier, eat less and continue to attend 3 reformer Pilates classes each week.
My daughter is getting married in October and I'm already worrying about finding a dress that I'll look nice in!

I am also making as much of an effort as possible to try to pay off some debts. With the high cost of living, it is virtually impossible to save anything each week, but if i can pay even a little extra off the mortgage each week , it all helps.

I used to play the new year resolution game, and then I had an epiphany... if there was something about me that needed improving, why wait to the end of the year to make that change? If I needed to improve something there's no better time to start than yesterday! And I've never made another resolution since. :)

Like many, I hope to lose some weight ... nothing ambitious... just a little. Remember goals need to be SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely.

Aside from that I have no plans for trips or anything exciting, learn a language, play an instrument, make new friends...whatever. They say plans are what you make to amuse God. :)

I hope to get as much as I can out of each day that life throws my way. I am, and always have been, an opportunist. As for plans... if I don't learn that language, play that guitar, or scale that mountain, does it really matter?

For me 2025 is like any year, enjoy your life in the best way you can... just don't hurt anyone in the process.

This year I've decided to take a 'quieter' approach to my resolution. In the way that rather than starting with an extreme, full on attempt at a resolution I started in baby steps. They are all based around health and fitness - more walking, eating better foods, clearing my mind etc.
Hope everyone sticks with theirs :)

My darling hubby of 45 years passed away on 30th December 2024.
One of the last things he said to me was not to let my sadness linger and to live each day I have left as if it is my last.
New Year's resolutions have no place in situations like this.
One must make personal commitments on a daily basis, all year long. You never know what tomorrow might bring.

My goal this year is to be completely selfish and solely focus on regaining my health. It's time to take the focus off everyone and everything that has distracted me from putting in some self care. My health has suffered because of this so now, in order to be there for others for many more years to come, it's time for me to look after me.

EVery year my resolution is get the ironing done as soon as the clothes come off the clothes line and every year I start failing 2nd week of January. Living in Qld, it's just too dam hot to even turn the iron on so my clothes start to pile up. I will say though that 95% is my husband's clothing and the rest is mine. At the moment, I just put the ironing board up to do the ironing and here I am typing away on here. Have to get my priorities done first I say then a cuppa and then just maybe some ironing will be done.

Hello everyone !!!! Happy New Year !!!!! I have decided to make this year a "Me" year. After 20 years as an at home carer of 3 special needs children, I decided to go back to studying. My course started today and I feel a new sense of me coming on this year, a sense of achievement I haven't felt in some time. These days study can be so flexible whatever your circumstances so I'm taking advantage of that. I am doing a complete digital course from home so I can still be here for everyone but still do something for myself.

Number 2 goal is to do less for everyone. I do way too much as a mum and wife and delegation is my new middle name. " yes, they are more than capable" is my new moto.

My number 3 goal is to take care of myself a little more, maybe buy a few anti aging creams and feel like I'm doing something for myself care. Get back to my exercises which I did regularly and don't do anymore. It makes me just feel better so I need to get back on track with ME !!!!

Now in my eighth decade and having survived four surgeries last year, plus several other health problems, I have decided that this year I am going to begin to say, "NO!" I have always been super active, compassionate, involved in so many community, national and even international organisations and projects. I have been available to almost everyone who has asked for help or my time. I love to see other people's projects come to fruition; to see students and audiences reacting positively; making a difference even to an individual or creature because I helped; hearing from those who have benefitted from the little charity I began; giving talks to children about Koalas; spending my spare time knitting koalas for charity; and also still running acting workshops for those keen to get into Film and Television. However I realise that even I must slow down and stop trying to please everyone who asks. My pension now stretches barely enough to to let me buy a few personal treats let alone feed others and the pleas for donations will now just have to make me feel guilty. It doesn't mean everyone will get a "NO!" Nor am I completely turning my back on others because that would just not be me but I am determined to be kind to myself occasionally and not be taken for granted quite so much.

It is so easy to be taken for granted. You have to look after yourself, Unfortunately sometimes it is hard to say "no". Don't let people make you feel guilty when you say "no.
