The Australian stock market is currently experiencing significant volatility, influenced by global economic trends and pre-election uncertainties. Additionally, the surge in demand for critical minerals and resources underscores Australia's strategic importance in the global market.

3. The excess supply of money created during Covid has to find a home so the price earnings ratio of listed stocks is getting way out of control. As interest rates may now commence to fall, that surplus money is likely to add even more to share prices or make its way to offshore investments. It doesnt mean the stock market has gone up in value but moreso the value of each dollar is falling so needs more dollars to keep up. It is more complicated than that but a simple as it can be put.

The biggest influence on the stock market a week or so ago was the expansion of conflict surrounding Israel and the other Middle East countries. The U.S. are likely to avoid a recession on current numbers and China's economy has slowed, hasn't really recovered since COVID meaning demand for their goods and their expansion in terms of building and infrastructure isn't what it once was.

I am neutral on the stock market. If you don't know what you are doing or don't have a long-term outlook, then don't invest in it. When stocks fall it is a buying opportunity. You should look to invest long-term and not for short-term gains. Currently I see many ASX listed companies overpriced, I don't see value, so I wouldn't be buying the stocks personally.
