Hi Keerah

That’s an interesting grab-bag of practices…which I think sit on a spectrum between entertainment and science.

Am I interested in any of it? Yes! I’ll even add Ouija Boards to the list.

I’m curious about EVERYTHING, and like nothing better than to investigate the science (ie if it has been tested and proven) or just comes under the umbrella entertainment. That doesn’t mean that as entertainment, they have no value, they do, because they kind of help explore meaning to ourselves… d’ya know what I mean?

With that said, the benefits of meditation have been proven, yes, I do practice it, not as much as I’d like to…

Motivational activities? Yes, if you’re talking about goal setting and tracking habits (look up Steven Covey – 7 habits of effective people). I did his course many years ago. It’s all about setting targets and adopting behaviours that work toward that goal and ignoring the things that distract you. Very incisive.
But if you’re talking about motivational speakers, that vomit up ‘motivational quotes,’ give me a break, they’re great for the speakers ($$$$) and if they achieve anything, it’s to wind you up for a short time…right up until you get out of the lift to go home. LOL

Past lives? No… this dances around the fringes of religious beliefs. Mine don’t include, that everything has a soul, or that our souls are reborn time and time again. Further, I’ve never heard anyone say that in a past life, they were a hungry street urchin that became sick to a plague and died or they were a horse that pulled a plough and the occasional carriage until it’s death… so, no. That’s entertainment.

Tarot card? I put this alongside reading tea leaves and coffee grounds… entertainment.

AI ATLAS? I’d not heard of this at all. So, I’ll have to look into it. Thanks.

Interstellar? Yes, if you’re referring to the film; that was based on science and black holes and time dilation exist…the emotional and metaphysical stuff was just storytelling.

Finally, turning to Ouija Boards. My sisters and I tried this in our very early teens for entertainment. And what happened was enough to ensure we never tried it again… If invited to participate now, I’d decline. The science would explain it via the ideomotor effect: tiny, unconscious muscle movements that feel involuntary. Maybe it was … I don’t know; but the verdict on this for me is not yes or no, but ‘maybe.’ 😊

Happy new year to you, also.

Hello Abarnes.
I want to thank you so much for reply. It’s so interesting what you thought about each subject. Thank you for your time in typing and getting your point across. 🥳🥳🥳

Thank you, Keerah for the interesting topic. But yes, I do get very chatty with these things, and I often write waaaay too much and then spend time editing it to stay on topic and keep it tight. 😂 :)
