You’ve raised a very important point, and I completely agree that navigating health information can often feel overwhelming. In Australia, where we have access to a world-class healthcare system, it’s crucial to rely on trusted sources like your GP or family doctor. They know your medical history and can offer personalised advice, which is far better than relying on conflicting opinions from the internet or other informal sources.
I believe it’s about striking a balance—being informed about your health while not getting caught up in misinformation. Consulting a professional ensures you’re on the right track and reduces unnecessary stress. As you’ve rightly mentioned, following your doctor’s advice and staying proactive about your health is the best way to live happily and with peace of mind. Your emphasis on this issue is truly commendable, as it’s something we should all take seriously.

If you are happy with your Doctor, GP and even pharmacist advice then that is fine.
People who would like to do their own research and question their health providers more can also do that.
When doing so it is important that they only use credible information and not rely on social media platforms or people without qualifications, as their advice can be harmful as we as extreme.
I would however caution people taking their health practitioners treatments and advice without asking questions or understanding things properly to ensure they do ask the question and receive the appropriate answers as a health practitioners go to remedy is to prescribe a pill and not fully investigate an issue. For instance, my mother had nose bleeds that wouldn't stop so went to the doctor who prescribed blood pressure tablets and sent her to a cardiologist. Years later (I can't remember how it came out) she ended up at an Endocrinologist because she had Conn's disease where the adrenal gland was overactive and had to have surgery to remove part of all of it). Her high pressure had been due to the adrenal gland all along and for over 20 years she had taken blood pressure pills, which in hindsight masked the issue and did not resolve the problem. If investigated properly initially the correct treatment would have been followed.
