Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Rocketdog says: I shop at Foodland in South Australia particularly intensely because of the variety, choice and range of food products and brands displayed on their shelves. I shop Woolies, Coles and Aldies for the brand items that are on special but relish spending an hour or so fetching the specialty items I seek from the shopping Ailses at Foodland. Its a sad predicament when profits induce Supermarkets to restrict the variety of products on sale at their shopping aisles.
