Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

says: Home brand products are great! I like when the products i like/need have a home brand equivalent, this usually works out to begin of the same quality in my opinion. The only event in which I wouldn't buy a home brand product is for speciality food products like my favourite candy or chips and canned tuna because recreating the particular blend of ingredients that make the food i like so nice is not met by home brands. However in relation to other food products like salt/pepper, rice its absolutely fine.
