Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

mymonkey says: Most home brands are really good and cheap, especially things that you don't eat, eg, plastic forks and spoon, serviettes, plates and cups, gladwraps and foils are great in home brands...even rice, sugar, canned beans and legumes, most of my shopping is homebrand, and I don't have a problem with any of them.
As for food, I have bought home brands and some of them are really good, in the normal brands,I think you are just paying for the brand name and colour wrappings. There is of course foods that I have bought in homebrands which really wasn't nice, but you experiment and see whats nice and whats not nice...
