Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Alice_ says: I have always seen home brand as an cheaper alternative (and they really area). Sometimes the quality of the food isn't great. However, it could be that we are persuading our own mind to think named brand is the better choice. This is due years and year of advertisement that leads to this kind of thinking. If we were to compare the ingredient lists on both products, there is high chances they are 90% the sam. Hence, we should just pick what we feel comfortable with. If we have money to spare we could just spend more on the named brand otherwise home brand is pretty decent to get by.
