Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Cassniks says: I think it really depends on the product. Anything is worth a try to see if it's any good. However I would read the back to see where it is from. I'm not inclined to purchase food from China or NZ unless I know 100% it actually comes from NZ. Once I had children I am much more careful about these things. I try to mostly buy local with food. Anything else I will 100% give home brands a try :)
The main frustration is however that I might find a good home brand product but then it changes :(
