Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Very interesting issue you raise, I have found myself in my local Coles supermarket that little by little, all my favourite brands are disappearing and being replaced by the Coles own brand products. Sometimes you can still find the brands, but they have been moved either to the very top or the very bottom of the shelf. I resist this trend, as although I am happy to buy Coles brand bread, sugar, flour, etc I do find the brands (for instance Maille mustard) far superior for specialist products.
It seems to me the big chains are becoming more and more like Aldi every day!
