Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Freedomy says: Years ago, the thought of having home brand in my home was too much for my little brain to cope with. But as I have gotten older, I try a home brand, if I like it I keep it, if I don't I wont go with it. I find Coles and Woolies are making their own brands and this keeps brands (especially cereal) achievable to bye. Because it is like copycats but with a different label. I am yet to try Coles Nutrigrain, which is half the price.

Anyway getting back to the brands. Some Home brands are a real bargin and I love them and others just wont do, for instance toothpaste NO, Two minute noodles NO, but tomato sauce YES. I cant think of too many more, but I am the firm believer to say yes, give it a go and become the best home brand critique you can and save a few bucks along the way.
