Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

TCEE says: Supermarket brands are driving the quality down on all products as they tell the manufacturer how little they are willing to pay and if they do not compete they buy from overseas companies, so we are sending jobs off shore every time you buy a supermarket brand in preference to a national brand or a product made in Australia .
Buy Australian made products from Australian Companies to ensure your children have job prospects .
