Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Deslie says: I have tried many home brands and have found some to be very good but others to be of a much lower quality. I never buy home brand toilet paper as the paper is much thinner. Some canned products (eg. canned tomatoes, baked beans and spaghetti) the sauces are very watery. I do buy home brand muesli and find it very good. I think many shops are introducing too many of their own home brands and the small difference in price in most cases is not worth settling for the home brand.
