Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

says: Most homebrands are pretty good, but there are a few that just can't compete with certain name brands. Some of these homebrand products really are inferior to their name brand equivalent (i.e. lacking flavour etc. in food / drinks and lacking some strength / quality in home goods etc.); however occasionally the homebrand seems to be better than the actual name brand.
