Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

vickbenla says: I only buy Aldi, instant coffee, butterfully spread, their kitchen towels, extra length toilet rolls, dog treats ( half the price of brand names) & my dogs only like Aldi Julius brand dry dog food, they won't eat any others. I shop fortnightly (as its Aldi) & I have worked out I save at least $30 by buying those items at Aldi rather than buying brand names (which I don't like anyhow)
