Home Brand vs Named Brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

I quite like home brand products as they are cheap, and for a person who is on a budget they are good supplements for the well-known brands. Although if I had the money, I would definitely choose the name brands over home brand any day. With products like soap and toilet paper I don't really care what brand I get, I usually get whatever is cheapest as those products don't matter as much. But with food I prefer the name brands as most of the time they taste a lot better. But it's not in all cases so yeah.
