Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Jonda says: I totally agree with you that it is a shame our Australian farmers are paid a pittance, even though their products are of excellent standard. I believe that 'home brands' are mostly made out of imported produce. I never fail to read the labels before buying and though the labelling indicate that they are made using both local and imported produce, I strongly believe this may not be the case. Rather i am of the opinion that at least 99% of home brands are made from imported produce.
For if they take the trouble to indicate that both local and imported produce(s) are used, why then don't they give us at least a rough indication as to what percentage is used.
