Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Sassy says: Here in NZ they did a shopping survey to find products made and sourced in NZ. Well it was very interesting. The trolley was almost empty once they reached the counter and was an eye opener to me as the consumer. Now I regularly read the contents and where they are sourced. Home brand has become a popular buy in my house. At least most ingredients are sourced either here or in Australia and the quality is on a par with labelled brands. End of the day yes some products you cant beat that are labelled for quality BUT for everyday products like milk , butter etc home brand wins out every time in my house hold :-)
