Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Ashar says: Yes, many the variety of brands has declined and been replaced by home brands on supermarket shelves. I would never buy home brands as the quality is not as good and most of the home brands are imported product. I no longer see Huggies fabric softener, Top Taste cakes, Rosella sauces and condiments. PMU soups, Harpers spices, Golden Circle jams, Wimmers softdrinks, Scotts insect spray, just to name a few that are no longer in my local supermarket.
