Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

R.J's King says: I think it really depends so can be of equal quietly but most home brands can't compete with name brands for example I couldn't find the strawberry jam I normally get so I thought I'd try a home brand it was a lot cheaper but the quality wasn't up to scratch I still ate it and I didn't regret buying it but I decided I wouldn't buy it again on the other end of the scale I saw some super fancy jam on sale and thought I'd give it a try I found the quality was great the best jam I have ever had it had 55% real fruit compered to the home brand which only had 30% real fruit on the other hand the fancy stuff was about 3 time the price of the home brand so I think it's real up to you is the quality worth the price you decide
