Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

says: I have found that the 'branded' items have lost a lot of shelf presence against many homebrands, e.g. confectionery and cereals, however I am still able to find the branded items if I look hard enough. There are many items I will continue to buy the branded version and not the cheaper substitute, particularly because often the price difference is not that great, however there are some items that I feel are just as good, branded or homebranded. I won't sacrifice quality for a cheaper product and to save a few cents
