Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

shelly47 says: I disagree there miamouse, Most of the home brand products are not produced here in Aust at all or they are packed here from imported grown produce or a mixture of Aust and imported goods before they are packed here. READ THE LABELS thoroughly. A lot of the Aust companies have been run off the shelves because of the greed of Coles and Woolworths wanting more of the profits for themselves. They have effectively lessened the choice we as consumers have by pushing these Australian brands out, and replacing them with their own home brand products. They are produced cheaper by cheap overseas labour and are usually an inferior product. If we want the Brands to remain we all must stop buying these HOME BRAND products!
