Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Chez says: Do not like a lot of "home Brands"". The product is not sourced in Australia or from Australian growers and the quality in a lot of cases leaves a lot to be desired. Rather pay more for Australian product, grown & manufactured, than foreign rubbish. Supermarkets need to rethink. As for products disappearing from shelves, I think Dick Smith Foods is filling the void nicely on-line or in store (if you can find them) and they are all Australia.
