I've always wanted a tattoo. And i will get one eventually, my thing is, WHAT DO I GET?? I don't want too much writing, and don't want to follow 'traditional' patterns either. Something not too bright and nothing that looks like one thing but stands for something else. It's a big decision. And i want something that will keep and stay true to its meaning, without taking up too much space. Decisions, decisions....

Long term tatoos look like a blue mess. No matter how good they look initially , they always end up looking like nothing. The older you get the worse they look

I totally hate tatoo's because it is disgusting and evil to me. Why would you considered getting tatoo when you are wonderfully and powerfully make.

I tend to find the current fad for getting tattooed to be rather abhorrent. I have met many aged ex-Servicemen who had gotten tattoos, as young men, and now sincerely regret having done so. What my look alright on a 25 year old looks terrible on a 50 or 60 year old.

Tattoos are also a good way of catching hepatitis.

Quoting
This may have been an issue but if a reputable and licensed tattoo studio is used then we as the inked should have no issues with health. And as for the "what looks good now may not so in the future aspect. Well for some the here and now is what matters the most by the age of 70+ we would probably care more for being alive than looks

Love tasteful tattoo's that actually have a meaning to them. I have 2 in Chinese writing and they both have great meaning. I dont like it when people just pick a picture and have it etched when it has no meaning. I also don't like big chunky coloured tattoo's. Especially on women. Just makes them look cheap and tacky

i agree with the point made regarding meanings, but on the other side of the same coin i fall into the category of the 'ooh this looks nice' without a meaning , as i have a fancy for the skull designs or other :)

MOST tattoos I have seen are ugly and I feel sorry and pity for the poor fools who succumbed to shelling out the hard saved cash for crappy skin disfigurements. On some men it looks good, but on women it looks cheap and tacky.
Buy a stamp and coloured ink pads, then experiment for free. It takes only minutes. Repeat if you like it or wash it away. Plus there's no pain or risk of infection.

i do agree to a point, they can look bad on some people { thyself included, as i have a couple that are not so good} but in the end we all choose for ourselves, if spending our money for the joy of 'art' or other reasons so be it. we are all as differing as each other as we are the same

To me, Tatts are a personal choice. However, having worked in corporate areas, community areas and general retail, I am aware that if visible, they are often frowned upon by employers, especially some of the more outrageous ones. I have seen older people -60+ who got tatts in military services - with age, they really don't look all that good!!! Some still do, if one has not gained/lost too much weight. So many young people thing they are great all over....can't wait to see what happens after pregnancies and age intervene!!

I a fan of the dark one coloured tattoo on a muscled arm or leg, in fact I think it can look a little sexy. And I don't mind checking out everyones tattoos, but man I see people with future walkig regret. I hear the words "its my art" or "its how I represent myself" but anyone who is old or middled aged knows that passhing phases when you are young can be a thorn in ones side down along the track. There is an advertisement (I can't think of what they are selling but that is not the point) where there is an older woman with white hair and saggy skin (no problems there because it happens) but she has a faded tattoo around this arm and the she says something along the lines of regret at decisions made as a youngster. Now I am not anti young people, I find them a breath of fresh air, but I see where sleeves of tattoos or rings in there ears that a log could fit through being a burden to them.

I have 13 tattoos and counting. I really love them and have lots of friends who have or are wanting to get tattoos. Most of mine are my own designs and I'm proud to wear my own art wherever I go. I am a piercer by trade and the two industries seem to go hand in hand so I know a few tattooists. I understand it isn't for everyone though but just because some people don't like tattoos it doesn't mean they have the right to judge those that do.

May i ask, do you find people view you as being different ? Because you choose to have personel art on your person. (no offence meant, as i too have a lot of ink) as i find even those whom know me still see me as a little odd. But i care not for their cares, as i am my own person.

I don't have a tattoo myself, but would like to get one. I don't know where, and I don't know of what, but it must be symbolic and personal to myself.

Also I love when a person has the chest and sleeve tattoo, especially if they're in colour.

I think tattoo's are a great way to express oneself and when done tastefully, can look very cool. I'm planning on getting a tattoo soon and I feel very strong about it because of what it means to me. When it comes to tattoo's I don't think it should matter what other people think of them because they're personal and if you like it then thats all that matters.

I find tattoos are nice but they have to be something with meaning to the individual not just something you randomly picked out of felt like getting because it looks rediculous half the time and people regret them later.
Personally I have one tattoo and I do plan on others but each have there own individual meanings that are important to me

I don't like them much. Some are not very tasteful at all. Some are downright disgusting - words aren't always polite. Big ones should be able to be covered with appropriate clothing, especially at special events. A lovely outfit and an ugly - not tastefully done one do not mix.
Also as one grows and the texture of their skin changes, or they lose or gain weight they either look stretched or loose and sagging.

the first thing people said to me was the age thing, but i suppose if i was worried about how i look later in life i would not like how i look now and thusly would not have ever got my first, but there is a point to this, i like to collect art as a matter of putting it so i can at least look good for a while :))

I personally don't like tattoos and would never get one. "To each his own", it is an old saying and in no way intended to be sexist. I have seen some beautiful ones and others not so elegant and certainly not pretty in my opinion, especially as skin texture changes. If you have to wear a uniform I believe they should not be visible, certainly Govt Dept (in many cases not permitted) and Security Personell.

I would never get a tattoo myself but my husband has a tribal tattoo on his arm and it's sexy.
But for me there is no symbol or word that I like enough to be permanently on my skin. It's a big decision to make to get a tattoo, it's there forever and young adults or teens get them just thinking it's cool to have one.

Think hard before you get one or you could regret it.

I love tattoos, and i dont fnid anyting wrong with them, alot of people see their skin as a giant canvas and they treat it that way by putting ink on it just like you would put paint to paper, i dont understand how their are so many people who find this disgusting or wrong, our society has turned from people who do what they please in their lifestyle to people who do what OTHER people like/dislike, which is extremely wrong, we are all individuals, if you choose to cover yourself in ink you should be able to do it without getting any negative feedback.

I am maori and our tribal Tattoo's are a symbol of acknowledgement for our ancestors and just having a symbol that is fit for you , and it does represent a lot about you're personality so if people seem to judge just let them know that its not for them it's for you to carry till the end . so my advice is to choose something that really shows who you are and what you believe in (: .

Personally I would never consider having a tattoo... For one thing once i worked in a medical ward for plastic surgery and so many patients were those who were wanting tattoos removed years later when they no longer wanted their bfs or gfs on their body. Also the scarring left when a tattoo is removed is not exactly pretty even with advanced procedures in laser techniques. If someone gets a tasteful tattoo and are sure they want it for life then go ahead but remember as your skin sags over time so will the shape of your tattoo change.

My sister who is 19 this year has recently got one under her arm that is written in arabic which i personally think is stupid since she doesn't know how to read arabic and it doesn't have any link what so ever to our family or her. I personally would like a small tattoo on my foot of a love heart or something small that wont fade or shrink to much. I've wanted this tattoo since i was about 10 when i started drawing pictures on my feet in permeant marker. But each to their own, their body, their life, their ink.

I've never cared about tattoos until I woke up one day on my 16th and realised I wanted one. I finally got the tattoo done on my 21st. I put a great deal of thought and effort into the placement, design and meaning.
I believe its a very personal choice, a lot of people get them on whims and regret it or don't put much thought into it and regret it.
If you're going to get one, just think it through, think about just how important it is that you get one or not. Don't let others opinions influence your final decision, make the right choice based on what you think!
And remember, its either you have one or you don't. Not 'I'll get it lasered off later'...no no no, yay or nay!

Tattoos are not for me maybe because I was brought up with the idea that I should take more care of my body and not vandalized it.
When I was young I have the understanding that you can only have tattoos when you're serving time. But of course now I know that a lot of people think of tattoos as part of fashion.

It is still not for me and I'm very glad that my sons and daughters( 2 are adults) don't have tattoos. Honestly I don't think tattoos look nice at all.

I didnt used to like tattoos but my son who passed away with CF in 2005 actually bought me a tattoo as a gift before he died. He designed it himself - a daffodil with the initials of his borthers and his own surrounding it. I was given it because I had lost a bracelet he gave to me and reckoned I would not be able to lose this gift. He had the most awesome sense of humour. He sat in the room while I had it done as well with a grin from ear to ear. A treasured memory.

I would only get a tattoo if it had a significant meaning. To me a tattoo is a life commitment and is not to be taken lightly. I never judge people on their tattoos because they could have some personal meaning behind them, and am always interested in hearing people's stories!

I have tattoo's...it's an idividual thing...you either will get them or you won't - who's right is it to say whether someone should or shouldn't have one. From my experience....PEOPLE WITH TATTOO'S DON"T CARE IF YOU HAVE THEM OR NOT - IT SEEMS TO BE THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE THEM HAVE ISSUES !!! If it's not your body, then the tattoo's are not your concern !!

The difference between people with tattoos and people without tattoo is, people with tattoos don't care if you don't have any.

Like any form of self mutilation - be it piercings, tattoos, stretching or scarification - it is entirely a personal choice. I find many tattoos beautiful, some very ugly and most in between - but I personally would never consider putting ink under my skin with a needle. I have pierced ears, but would never consider more extreme forms of piercing. And some I see absolutely beggar belief. But if that's what turns that person on - so be it. It is not my place in this world to have a say in any adult's choices about their own body. I would not give my permission for a child under 18 to have anything but simple ear piercings, but over 18's can make up their own minds. I just wish everyone considering any body modification of any kind were made completely aware of all possible consequences of having their chosen option done...

I'm wanting to get a tatto and not so i can impress anyone. i want to get it for sentimental reasons. for as long as i could remember i've wanted a tattoo even before they became the 'in' thing. i agree that some people do, do it because they want to impress. a great example would be a friend of mine who got a strawberry tattoo on her wrist. its a silly little thing and i see no point in it but then another friend got one to commemorate her late grandfather. that i believe is a good reason.

Well by having a Pacific Islander background I like the idea of the men having traditional tattoos, however tattoos that are done to an extreme do get quite disturbing to look at but at the end of the day it's not my skin so I don't really care & i'm not one to judge. I just personally love guys with traditional tatts, as for girls with tattoos, it's alright but sometime I think it's unladylike but then again it's totally up to the person who got it :)

I had a tattoo before but have since removed it. Nowadays, I battle within me of getting one with 2 impressionable daughters and how I explain it's ok to get a tattoo when I am not comfortable them getting their ears pierced. They are 5 and 7 years old. I am also afraid of getting Hep C.

Hi, I am sort of on both sides to this discussion. I think tattoos are great but only if they have a meaning behind them and arn't just there so you can 'fit in'. I am planning on getting one myself, I have always wanted one but am taking my time to find something that means alot. I want to get to linked hearts just under my breast one with my fathers surname in it and the other with my mother's maiden name. I was debating myself on where to put it but I I've decided this would be the best spot as it is hidden so it's not there to show of but for me personally and my family.

I find tattoo's to be a work of art. I have a big one stretching over my shoulder & back (aka shoulder plate) & it's tasteful & I get plenty of positive comments about it. Others just get a tattoo for the sake of it, to fit in, etc. I don't think many people appreciate a good work of art on the body.
For a laugh Google - Images, worst tattoo's.

I have 7 tattoo's the only one's you can see are on my ear's. I am in the process of having them removed, not because I don't like them it's the reaction of some people that meet you, I have a Diploma in Hospitality Management and don't think the look for a manager includes ear tattoo's I'm 48 years old and got them when I was 20 and a stay at home mother. I like tattoo's on other's and myself.

That would be though because the person doing it was learning and I wanted to be the one to have the privilidge of getting the 1st done from him, he also done my 2nd and I had my third done from an uncle. I love them all, they are Ta Moko and I plan to get more in the future, as they say tattoo in general are addictive. I never thought it was possible but a fact that I have to solely agree on

I personally dislike tattoos, I think for women they cheapen them and aren't very classy. There is nothing worse than seeing a woman dressed in a really classy outfit and then seeing a tattoo on her ankle or back, it totally destroys the whole look. Think about how ugly they will look as a person gets older.

I hate tattoos and think they look ugly. Just imagine how a person will look when they age with a wrinkly tattoo showing on their bodies. In my opinion it cheapens women, no matter what age they are. Big mistake if partners have their girlfriends or wives name printed on their bodies, only to move into another relationship with the ex' name showing. Not good at all.

I had the offer to get free ones when I was 17 - didn't bother.
As I live part time OS, I considered getting that address tattooed in the local language somewhere out of sie, but could be found if I was in an accident.
So far, haven't bothered with that, either. The idea has merit, but I'm not sure I want it there permanently.

I personally don't like tattoos except cosmetic, medical, identification purpose. People should not have it casually as it is very expensive and painful to remove it. Tattoos are associated with yakuza in Japan, and people with tattoos are openly banned from entering swimming pools, gyms and bathhouses.
I have seen a beautiful woman wearing a beautiful gown. It is a shame tattoos seem to take elegance away from the beautiful gowns.

I despair....it is pure grafitti on skin! It makes me wonder why people consider them attractive at all. I cannot bear them and I know so many who have one! What's the point of them? Wear jewellery...but then we cross over to piercings...let's not go there either!

Tattto's are great so long as you choose them wisely and go to a good tattoo artist. Depending on what industry you are working in, make sure it's acceptable for you to get one and if not make sure it's in a discreet place.

If people want to have tattoos, why not? But in particular if you're a young girl you should do so on the understanding that the time may come when you hate your tattoos, and want to have them removed. On the TV a long time ago there was a plastic surgeon who was saying that most of her customers were young women who were coming to have their tattoos removed. It costs heaps. Why not just get stick-on tattoos. Much simpler.

Some tattoos look cool but some make you look cheap or like your a "try-hard" ( to be younger or someone youre not). It all deponds on the design, artwork, meaning and the person you get to do it.
Ive thought about getting a tattoo but change my mind too often, looks great when your young, but who wants too be a seniour citizen with a stretched faded tattoo

Island cultures gt tattooed 4 cultural reasons & people shouldnt be judgd becoz of the art they hve on them. Its jus like the clothes u wear, its an evri day, 4 lyf thing & its wats on the inside that reali counts isnt it?

When i got my 1st tattoo i regretted it coz it ws a cheap home job & i had given my design that ws done by a relative to a guy that sed he cud do it...wrong!! Turnd out nothing lyk the design bt it ws 2 l8 coz it ws alreadi done. Went to get it laserd off & it ws gona cost me 10 times more than wat i paid 4 the tatt, so in the end i kpt it on & got use 2 it, afta all it ws a lesson 2 b learnt lol. Years l8r, i got 1 done on my leg, designd by my husband & i LUVD it!! An so does evri1 else. So i gt addictd 2 getting anotha 1 & 3 mre afta that. All of them have meanings & they kinda show my cultural side 2. I think its up 2 the individual that gets 1 & people shouldnt b judgd because they have tattoos, understandable if its an offending 1 bt if its got meaning & shows culture then it shud b fine...Right??

There is nothing wrong with a person getting a tattoo, this 'look at me look at me' statement is quite ridiculous, I have four tattoos, and all of them have personal meanings, I got them for myself not for others to judge me upon. Honestly, why judge a person for something they enjoy and makes them feel better about themselves, If you don't like tattoo, you don't have to get one, just like life, as you get older it fades away . do you not speak to your friend when she starts to go a little gray? God-forbid if she adds a colour to her hair.
I don't know how to reply to this as a group, so it's not directly at any individual

Firstly I dont have any, I am at a level in management whereas if I had any - especially if they can be seen I would not be promoted again - personally a few on a guy looks ok but I HATE loads on a woman, we have a lady at our school who has a whole arm done and surprise surprise she says to me she is finding it hard to make friends up here - she sticks out like a sore thumb, its an inner city thing really in country not so much, under 30 I know there must be 60% with them, I also know many 30+ who find it hard to get jobs where they are seen by the public so think about it, its not like getting your eyebrown pierced where you can take it out! its there for ever or a painful skin graft or laser treatment which is also expensive, be careful on where and size if you have too. I have lived in London, Edinburgh, New York, Germany, France and now Australia so seen so much its not funny. Wendy

Whenever I see young people, both genders, covered in tattoos I have this recurring visual of 60 years into the future. There's a rest home with all 80 and 90 year old residents covered in blurs of colours that used to be tattoos that have faded and drooped over the years. I wonder what the young medical staff will be doing for attention then, as tattoos will sure to be out of fashion.

I don't deny some of the tattoos I've seen are a work of art but I'd not want my body branded for the rest of my life. HOWEVER, good for you folk if it makes you happy, as I do things that make me happy too!! :)

tattoos are an expression of ones self and are often judged just as much as the person themselves. i dont think many take into account that a tattoo is permanent and its not something to be taken lightly as of those silly little girls (my ages inparticular) that get tattoos of their boyfriends names.. only to break up with them a week later. but in the end, its their body and perhaps their regret within the future :)

It is definetly a personal choice.Persdonally I do not like them. I Have seen classy people and as soon as I see they have a tatoo they go down in my estimation and somewhere down the line their attitude also reflects this.

Tatts !!! I simply just luv them - I have one on my right shoulderblade, wish I had gone and got another like I was planning. I don't like tatts that are covering all the arm etc., but yep, I'm definatley a huge fan.

i like them, i havent got any yet but i am considering it (have been for about 6 years now) there are a lot of tatts i see that personally look horrible and like they ruined there body, but basically its their body and tey can choose what they want to do to it, as long as a tattoo makes them happy and isnt offensive, i dont mind it

Hi Phoenix, I'm 43, got my first tattoo at 23 and now have six and I love 'em! I do agree that they don't look as good as you get older BUT neither do the untattooed bits of skin. It's a very personal thing and one of my tattoos was done in memory of my youngest brother who passed away at the age of 35 on Valentine's Day 2007, it is of a butterfly (the connection for me is that the butterfly does not live a long life either). My 24 year year daughter has a few tattoo's, very personal in taste, and let me tell you there are a lot worse things she could do than get tattoed. My mum even got one on her left shoulder (at the ripe old age of 66) in memory of her youngest son. It's one of things we get a choice about in life so if you want one OR 10 get them and if you don't, then don't. TOO easy!!

I have a few small one's on my torso only and a large one on my shoulder blade! All of them bring back memories of different times in my life, and friends I was with when I got them done. I think you can have the best of both worlds if you don't get them on your arms & legs you can always cover them up when you want to or display them if you want a different look!
People that ask me how do you think you will feel about them when your old? I say at least the doctor's at the morgue will know where I've been when I pass :)

I like some tattoo's and have always wanted 1 when I was younger, just never brave enough to go get one. Don't like pain much. I am female and I think I have great biceps and a tattoo on 1 arm would be awesome, but then I got thinking of what happens when I go out all dressed up and I have this artwork on my arm. Some people like it some don't. I'm glad that I never got 1. But If you like them and want 1 it's your choice.

I think they are totally up to the individual to make that decision. I have known a lot of people who regret them and their choice. This is the difficult thing that young people make decisions at an age when often they have not reached that time in their lives when they know who they will become. The consequences of their actions can rebound upon them. I personally think some petite ones in a carefully chosen area look sweet.

I like small tattoos, Im not into massive tattoos and the ones that are all over the body and arms. For women I like small ones on the lower back or hip, and places like that. I want to get something on my lower back like a swirl which I know isnt very meaningful or creative but I think it would look good.

This is one of those trends that you can't change your mind about once done (unless you like scarring from the removal).

There have been stages in my life where I found them fun, so I used temporary tattoos for the occasions I wanted and it gave me a lot of choice and fun.

What is sad is when you see them on people as they age, the tattoos fade, blur, sink into shapes they never would have on a firm young skin, not a good look.

I have one tattoo. It took me about 6 months thinking about it, before getting it done. Not everyone likes it, and I don't care if they do or not, because it means something important to me and thats what matters. I am not a sheep and doing it because every second person has one these days. Quite a lot of people ask about it, what it means, and I like telling the story.

They're a personal choice and they tend to look great on younger people when they're first done. But when it comes down to it, do you really want Tweety bird on your hip when you're 60? I would never get one myself and I wouldn't want my partner to have one either. But more power to the people who rock them.

I don't think tattoo's reflect a person being an individual, I think they show that you are a bit of a sheep. I know it is in at the moment to have a tat - especially if you are a girl - and both my daughters love tattoo's but my sister got one on her ankle when she was in her 40's so she could act like she was young - it looks stupid and is there for the rest of her life. It is not a big statement so I do not know why she did it except to impress her 5 children that she was a good mummy. Crappy if you ask me. They look worse with age and often make the bits that look great in your 20's stand out and suddenly you are 50 and would like too hide those bits more but they stand out more because of the stupid tattoo. It is NEVER a good idea to get a tattoo. Thank you for letting me get that off my chest. It has been with me for more than 10 years.

OMG I agree totally! not for me either people think they are like a new pair of jeans and in several years they will wish they never got one - too easy to get them now. YUK

I agree they are permanent so do not get a person's name especially a girlfriend / boyfriends husband or wife's name tattoo on you.

And does everyone know that under the tattoo the sweat glands do not work so if you are very extremely tattooed it can mean liver problems later on in life?

There has been a documentary about this subject involving very heavily tattoed people from a country overseas and what most outcomes were liver transplants.

Sorry at 42 you really are young, have you not seen the ads saying 40 is the new 30 etc etc.
Your skin at 42 should not have wrinkles I am almost twice that. I am so glad I have no tattoos & I have few wrinkles but I think any around my knees or boobs would definitely look very different now , if you could even see them LOL.
I have seen 50 & 60 yr old people & they are having to re ink & it will happen again & again if they want to continue to enjoy their tats. No ink is made that the sun will not fade.

I disagree that they wrinkle and fade. I have fair skin and my colour tattoo that is nearly 10 years old still looks new and vibrant. I can also say that in the area of the lower back it will...

Some workplaces have a policy re tattoos and piercings especially if they work in a reception area or similar. At come company I know of prospective staff are made aware and asked to keep normally visible tattoos covered and not to wear visible piercings (apart from their ears) on site.

I hate the damn things and not myself or anyone in my family and that includes my daughters, son, all my brothers and sisters and all my nieces and nephews, cousins etc. do not have a tatoo. I think they look ugly and they will all regret they have them when they get older because they turn to be even uglier. I have friends that are older now and wish they had never gotten on but to late now as it is expensive and painfull to have them removed.

never really wanted to get a tatoo, cause i agree, yeah with age they look ugly & no longer cool, is very painful & expensive to remove, people need to think more of what they would look like in 20 yrs time, why does nearly every young person feel the need to get one anyway? i certainly don't think it's a good idea to get one when u r drunk neither cause the odds of choosing a tatoo u would not like sober are high

To Woosif and Ollie. I am 21 years old and I don't have a tattoo...yet. when I was 15 I decided I wanted a tattoo to honour my grandad and to add a bit of me. I haven't yet had it designed the way I want it but when I do I will get it done for sure. I think people who have closed minds should not just think that they are right and everyone with a tattoo is cheap and stupid aka not to bright.
I will get my tattoo, I havent changed my mind in 6 years and I won't ever change it.

I wouldn't ever do it if it was just to impress somone else. No way!! I think that would be so stupid. People with tatts aren't cheap.....it's a choice. Like if you want to drink or smoke and it may annoy the crap out of others, but it is your choice. You can say you don't like tatts and that's your opinion and you're entitled to it but don't don't bag people who do have them. I'm sure there's many police officers, Drs, Judges out there who have tatts. Are they cheap??? By the way, I have no tatts at all but I would never bag someone else out for getting one or wanting one.

What a good idea it had been better than some we have and shows her elderly somewhat wrinkled upper arm circled with a a black & white tattoo that obviously just does not fit her life or style at all now.
It says a great deal with no words really expressed. Dreadful cheap nasty things. Cannot be such a good idea when most men finish so a shirt can hide them copletely if necessary. It seems to be most women and low life men who have them so widely on view

I agree Aura... while I'm not old, (29) I have 3 tattoos, none of them are unsightly or highly visible and all of them have a special meaning to me. I think it is a personal preference and not all people with tattoo's should be put into a box of being cheap, stupid and attention seeking (Ollie's comment).

I disagree with you there. I'm part islander, and there are some cultures where it is a rite of passage. I wear mine with pride. One thing that Ive noticed in the past is that non tattooed people tend to be prejudiced towards tattooed people, where as if you have ink, it's the complete opposite.

Hello Ollie,
I have 2 tattoos, none of which are seen by the public, I have a double degree and work fulltime in a high paying job. I certainly do not see myself as cheap and not very bright. In fact, quite the opposite. I certainly agree with you that SOME people get tattoos to impress others, but I assure you, both my tattoos are very person and have sentimental value to ONLY me. Although they do shrink, wrinkle and fade, the reasonings behind them never do.

OMG thats exactly what I think, I think someone needs to find an ink that lasts for 5 years well and then starts to fade and if you want it again you can have it re-duplicated over or something like that - I have many many friends all around the worlk in their 40's and yep all are fed up with them and realise they look trashy at that age now - keep telling my younger friends under 30 be careful its fashion at its worst! I think some of them are lovely art and its amazing watching it done but wow its permenant and some younger persons just dont get it - and yep hate it when older women try and think they are 25 - god just look at your face in the mirror every morning doest say 25 does it!!!

Of course it's all about individual perception and choice. NOTHING to be 'proud' of... for where is the achievement... sad sad person who said this then went on and on about how many they had...Who cares?
I hate them obviously and perceive people with tatts are cheap, not very bright and focused on "look at meeeeeeee!' Yes, ugly and tacky! !

But the poor bird now is flying a bit low these days and seems to have put on a bit of weight. [ I am 50 now ] I dont regret it but it is not the same as it was.

yes i love tattoo's,i have 4 myself, plan on getting more. i think they are an amazing art, & tell alot about a person,as everyone has their on taste in which tattoo's theychoose tonhave put on their bodies. i get some unimpressed looks as i have one on both my upper arms, but it's my body & my choice.

I don't think tattoo's reflect a person being an individual, I think they show that you are a bit of a sheep. I know it is in at the moment to have a tat - especially if you are a girl - and both...

I think tat are very nice, and a work of art all depends where they are on the body

Hi there, thanks for your reply, helps alot, and yes I do get it that it depends on where they are and what they are, I have spoken to over 100 persons now and my paper is about employment and...

Im heavily tattooed, but i can always cover mine up, so that when and if i need to be what is called socially 'professional' i can be. There have been times when i think what i have done hasnt been the smartest of ideas, but each time i look at a specific part it is a memory of a time that i have placed on my body.

Hi there, thanks for your reply, helps alot, and yes I do get it that it depends on where they are and what they are, I have spoken to over 100 persons now and my paper is about employment and tatoos - lots of employers still dont like to see them so yep i agree that if you really think about your career and what you want to do then tatoos might not really be for you, some people (some of my mates) rushed into them and oops few months or a year later hate them, others I dont even know they have one unless we are surfing! thanks again, Wend

I have a fair few myself- 9 to be exact and the only one visable to the public is a small 4 leaf clover on my wrist! you wouldn't know I had 9 if you saw me in the street. my grandmother doesn't like them much but in this day in age it is much more acceptable for people- women inparticular- to express themselves both verbally and visually. I am proud of every one of my tattoos and applaud anyone who wants to get one for themselves. Great scorpion by the way! :)
