i would get a big rain water tank or even two and if they run out get them refilled via water truck. that should keep every one happy.

In 1985 I was transferred to Port Moresby for a 2 year stint. Sure there was a lot of culture to be seen and experienced but nothing compared to the culture in the water. All water had to be boiled especially after heavy rain as the so called purificaton plant didnt catch the little wrigglies that came through the tap.

Back in the 1980s I used to work in Euroa. Never really found out why but quite often the water would come out a brownish colour and frothy almost like an instant cuppacinno, just add suger to taste.

water is a precious commody that not all people appreciate when they select a place to live,in the country, to get better quality of water if water is available, there are some increadble bulk water filters u can install where your water comes on to your property consult your local water tank supplier he may be able to help you orconsultyour local council about the problem you are paying for drinkable water that is palatable and free of algie ,poison, toxins, gardia, etc.

Here is Sydney, NSW we have plenty of water and I feel sorry for you not having enough water but I understand as I used to live in Parkes, 400 kms away from here it was dreadful. But I feel sorry for you with your conditions.

We live in Coleraine Vic, and not long ago had our existing water replaced with a pipeline from Casterton, promising better quality. Now half the time the water comes through a weird almost bronze colour. It's undrinkable to the point even the pets wont touch it.

if you have not got a rainwater tank,it is virtually inpossible to save water.we have had a bore put down for the lawn and gardend, plus a tap.for washing down thing.it saves a lot on the water bill.a little more ror electricity.but well woth it.like you we used to stop the washing machine on all rinse cycles and water would go into a large bin.we soon got sick of that.david

I would get a rainwater tank. In South Australia (my old home state) rainwater tanks were the norm because we got the tail end of the water in the Murray River (after Vic and NSW). The water tasted disgusting so most houses I knew had rainwater tanks. In fact, in some states now it is a requirement if you are newly building a house that it has to have a rainwater tank. Is the the case in Victoria? When I came over to Perth in 1990 I couldn't believe how much better the water tasted. Now, after a few years even the quality of the water here has decreased and we now use filtered water but our filters make it palatable. If rainwater tanks are not an option, what about spring water delivered by the bottle? Hope this helps
Cheers
