i saw this movie recently, which the critics were mainly praising. Besides falling asleep for about two minutes I watched this very boring and unfunny movie. How could the critics get it so wrong?

What a disappointment... I had heard such good things about it too. I found the whole thing rather gloomy and very tedious. Too long. One experience I wont be repeating. Better to just read the book.

I thought it was lovely. This mixed up boy had an adventure where he sorted out all the monsters in his head, had a few realisations and finally made peace with the things happening in his life. I thought it was all good! Am I reading too much into it?

Everyone has different opinions so what one might find enjoyable others don't at all. I seem to laugh at stupid funny and others laugh when it is funny.

If you watch movies for animation, it rocked....if you watched this one in particular because you grew up with the book and loved the book?i think the movie turned the book into a mildly scary nightmare....but thats hollywood for you lol

You should be glad you got it out of theLibrary and didn't have to pay for seeing it. Thanks for agreeing with me.

At least our exorbitant council rates pays for this service. Yeh would have felt pissed off if I had rented it.

I disagree with your assessment sandytt. I thought it was a brilliant and moving film...but you are certainly entitled to your point of view.

So, does this mean you liked the movie? And disagree with my own assessment?

Critics only look for certain things and entertainment value isn't one of them so do what I do if you like the look of a mvie, play or whatever go and if you don't like either leave early or tell your friends so they don't waste money. Never take notice of a critic that is our rule if we did we would never have seen half the good films.
