As a follow up to a previous chat on scams I want to know what action ordinary people are taking on emails they receive which ask them for credit card or bank details etc. We have to fight against these scams and report each and every one of them. How are people fighting back?

It is sad that thee are so many crooks who target the poor and lonely most. There should be higher penalties.
People should be now more aware, but it isnt so. Most of us believe others have good intentions.. but they dont.

Where the email states it is from a bank or Paypal or Telstra or some organisation that I actually have an account with I forward the email to them for them to follow up or confirm that it is a scam. Many of these organisations have an email address specifically for contact re scams/spam. eg Paypal - phishing@paypal.com.au. If enough of us report these then maybe some of the perpetrators can be tracked down. This website gives some help in reporting: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/get-help/where-to-get-help#report-scams-to-the-authorities
