Hey, so I want to know how many of you use your phone until it last leg? Like when do you opt to get a new one? Do you keep up with the newest or wait until the 'good' ones are cheap?

Use it until it's impractical to keep using it. Non-replaceable batteries (not easily, anyway) will make the lifespan shorter

My history tells the story.
I didn't want a mobile phone, I didn't want to be contactable at all times. Sure you can switch them of, there is nothing that can't wait. Yes, there are emergencies but that is pretty rare in my life.
Eventually the company I was working for provided one to me.
It was a pest, an interruption to my working life by my working life. I was contacted for the most unconcequential reasons, distracting me from the matter at hand. I had to arc up and tell people to think for themselves, but you can't say that to your boss.
They gave me new phones from time to time and replaced a stolen one very promptly.
I became accustomed to the convenience and when I left that company I was allowed to keep the phone and number, which I promptly lost, but after a month I replaced it with a new cheap one and also changed my phone number at the same time.
I kept phones until they broke (I jumped in a pool with one in my pocket) it was a pretty cheap small phone (smaller than most phone today) but I only used it for calls and an occasional text.
Then I found out about duel sim phones - great for me at the time - two phone numbers in my case one for business that I could turn off and one for my personal stuff.
I replaced 3 of these with exactly the same type of phone for various reasons, they weren't worth repairing and a new battery cost half the price of a new phone.
The last one just got old it was hard to hear the speaker.
Now I have a cheap model of iPhone. I got it on contract and will use it until it goes the way of all phones and dies. If It died tomorrow I'd look for a brand new phone exactly the same as the old one.
Do I love mobile phones now ? No
I still hate them, but living without one would be more difficult than living with it.

i'm still on an iphone 5 that i got second hand last year only because i could no long make calls on my iphone 4s i think upgrading all the
time is pointless and that to a lot people a phone has become a glorified status symbol

Use my existing as long as possible, then determine what of the available sorts will last me the longest

I always wait until they get cheaper.

Use my phone until it's necessary to look for a 'good' one that is cheap.

I wait until mine is dying, if it ain't broken don't fix it...
Shiralee
I keep mine till they die. Especially the one I have now. The battery life is better than the newer ones.

That's only because the old ones don't have so much 'essential' rubbish always running in the background. Shut down bluetooth if you don't use it, disable or remove facebook & the likes.

I always wait till it starts to play up as it takes too long to learn about a new one.

It takes so much effort to master a new phone that I will hang onto it until I either lose it (sadly, quite often) or accidentally destroy it ( going through the washing machine/dryer does phones no good) or, because I always use my children's cast offs, they just die.
drummerschick
I definitely use mine until it dies - had to upgrade recently because mine was Next G which is being phased out. Thankfully I have a daughter who upgrades her Iphones regularly so got a near new one from her - wow, it's a touch screen and all!! Unfortunately my granddaughter is miffed because she wanted it (she's 13). Oh well!
NigeyBaby
Use it 'till itz dead.
My current one is 3 years old (HTC 8X), and the ear speaker barely works so I gotta use wired headset, or speakerphone. Battery life still OK, though, so I just keep it.
My partner's is 6 years old! (Sony Ericsson T707)

I usually keep mine until my family gets so embarrassed by it being so old that they give me their old ones.

Do you research the phone you want or do you go by popular demand?
lonestar
I want the newest and keep the phone until I happy.
