I this program needs a lot of upgrading. There is no need for contestants to be over pressured just for the sake of ratings. I would have thought the main emphasis would be on good standards and safe work practices. They should be treated with respect and if a reasonable amount of pressure was put on them they would behave better towards each other. One couple was treated so badly even when it was obvious that the pressure was getting to them and they needed a little support. I also think the judges need to be replaced. Contestants should never be labelled "Idiots" at any time. It seems that one couple each time is selected to be the mat for the judges to tread on, put down and generally lash out with unreasonable vitriol. Criticism should be helpful not damning. It may be a competition but when contestants have done a good job zero rating is in my opinion wrong and silly. If contestants cannot judge one another sensibly on the style and quality of their fellow contestants work then take away their right to judge their competitors rooms.

I am not at all keen on these types of programmes. To me they seem to be rather stage managed. I also have strong doubts about whether these programmes have a set of prfessional craftsmen available to rectify the mistakes which have been made by the contestants so that they product can be shown on television.

I agree. I wonder about these people who have no qualifications for the work they are pressured to do. How safe are these homes after they have been renovated. I like looking at home renovations but don't like the way the block goes about it. The program on the other channel is not as bad. I know people do build their own homes in programs designed to help those who cannot afford to buy their own home and I believe they are monitored closely. I also watch 'sometimes' about the UK builder who catches builders who do a dangerous and shoddy job. "Cowboy builders" I think it's called. The best one I see is homes under the hammer where UK buyers renovate a home and then rent it out or re-sell it. Homes are normally renovated with a bland colour scheme and people can change the decor to suit themselves but the renovations work seems to be of a good standard.

Agree, I find it stressful just watching it but I do love the show. I hope they all get something out of series, unlike the last one. I can't handle that judge Shana. She is so critical. I would love to see her get her hands dirty and do a stint of the Block herself. I reckon she would be afraid to break a nail. No way in the world would you find me on a show like that. They are all doing a wonderful job considering the state the place was in.

Taping house rules and reno rumble. Watch them both when I can.

I am a bit naughty. I tend to watch more when the reveals are coming up and not watch early on in the week when they have just started on an area. I also switch from one to the other just to get an idea of what they are all doing.

Was just thinking the same thing. How would she cope if she had to renovate a building to a high standard with very little money and time? I prefer to other renovation program where they make over each others homes. In this program they give the renovators suggestions as to what they like. In the end only one couple wins the prize but all get their homes renovated and I really like the way they are done in comparison to the block which is extremely sophisticated and not very homely or cosy. But then my idea of a home is a hobbit home which is cosy, quirky and visually attractive. So glad Anastasia and Tim did well at the auction.
