Three months ago I had laser eye surgery and I am just SO GRATEFUL that I had it done! 42 years of being -7 shortsighted with astigmatism etc. I was becoming sensitive after 30 years of wearing contact lenses so I could only wear them occasionally but I am glad because it pushed me to get my eyes done. I am super careful with money but it was worth every cent. I still catch myself looking at things clearly and shout "I can see!!!" It's like a mini miracle when other parts of my body are falling apart, this has improved so radically. Is anyone else as grateful as I am?

I have a lazy eye. According to my partner's research laser eye surgery only works on 1 out of 3 types of lazy eye. When we can afford it I really want to see if it would work for me. Has anyone had it done for lazy eye??

My wife was -9 and had "Coke Bottle glasses" so I sat down and worked out the cost of glasses, contacts, plus all the other equipment I convinced her to get the Laser surgery I even got to watch the opperation, fantastic results but 3 months down the track it started to reverse when notified of this they did it again for free what other opperation do you know of that comes with a warranty

I have always wanted this done, but not having the money and more important things come first means I will have to wait.

I have heard of this before, I have to wear glasses, bifocals, for reading and driving for distance, it would be great to get my eyes lasered as I don't really like wearing glasses. I am unemployed so there is no way i can afford this but hopefully if I win some money that will be the first thing I do. I heard it last for 5 or 10 years or so and if it doesn't last that long they redo it. And that's if they can do my eyes...well....hopefully.. When I go out for a few drinks I don't wear them as I say "Well, I am gonna end up blind anyway" LOL....

I'm so glad I changed from glasses to contact lenses. I can't wait to get laser surgery done.

My best friend had it done this year. He is over the moon with his results and it's given him a new lease of life! Contact lenses gave him so much grief and so much discomfort. It has improved his life in so many ways... work-wise (hair stylist), social confidence, golf score, reading, writing. I try to convince my sister to get it done too but she is too apprehensive.

Had it done a couple of weeks ago. Took all the drugs they offered me - no pain, no burning smell, just damn good sight! Could only afford because I could pay it off over 12 months.

My friend from work had the laser eye surgery last year and is very happy with the procedure. I have been wanting the procedure for the last couple of years but like everyone else am waiting patiently to save some money. My only concern is how I will like my look without the glasses as I have been wearing them for 12 years.

i have heard many great stories about laser eye surgery but then a friend told me he could smell the skin burning while they were doing the procedure..this has honestly stopped me from going but the older i get the more i still keep going to consider it - i will think of your success and hopefully it will influence me to get it done..

I had laser eye surgery 6 months ago. I debated over it seriously for 12 months before that. Probably because of the outlay of money. If it weren't for the payment plan over 12, 18 or 24 months that was available I probably would still be debating. It is without a doubt the best spent money ever. I would encourage everyone to look into it. I also think health insurance should include it. The benefits of so many people not having to wear contact lenses or glasses and claiming on those over (in my case) 25 years has to be considered by them, I think.

Thats fantastic to hear. I like others have always thought about this, but of course money is always the issue. Does anyone know roughly how much it costs and also if its covered by private health insurance? I think i might have to check it out and see if mine can be done. I am long sighted with a stigmatism.

My eyes cost $2,400 per eye. I was able to pay for one eye up front (sounds weird doesn't it). I am now paying the other eye off over 12 months. 18 months & 24 months were also available. I was short-sighted and had worn contact lenses for 25 years. Private health insurance does not cover it. However you will also be entitled to a return in your tax return as it will push you Medicare threshold over the $1500 per year. The laser eye surgery clinic I went to (Laser Sight in Melbourne) were absolutely fantastic and can give you all the information you need about costs and what rebates you are entitled to. I found them especially great to me being a country client. They were very accommodating with how much time I wanted to spend in the city and the extra costs that entailed - they scheduled my initial consultation, surgery and check-up all within 24 hours so I could get home as quickly as possible.

I would like to consider having this done, just a bit scared. My eye sight is getting worse, I keep buying reading glasses, but they don't seem to help me for long.

I would love to have it done but was told that being shortsighted and with an astigmatism that is was not possible. Glad to have seen your post because now I will go back and have my eyes checked and see if it is possible for me.

That's great hearing a satisfied customer of Laser Surgery. I am short sighted and it annoys me having to wear gl***es just to see when I am driving or watching TV. I've heard it is expensive so I will probably have to wait till I win some money to go down that track.

my partner had it done. works great, took some time to get used to seeing him without the gl***es. billing was a pain though as its all broken into sections, had 4 diff acounts to pay. total was as quote, just have split it up.
