I love anything by Peter FitzSimons for non-fiction, especially Tobruk and Kokoda, James A Michener writes a great mix of history and fiction and if you're into vampires give Anne Rice a go. I also love psychological thrillers by Jeffrey Deaver, Faye and Jonathon Kellerman, James Patterson, Michael Connelly, Lincoln Preston and Patricia Cornwell.

I have been reading Select Editions from Readers Digest..There are 4 stories in a hard cover edition and I get a new edition around every 6 weeks. They are novels and all so far I found hard to put down until I get to the end of each story. Good value reading.

The Light Between Two Oceans by M.L. Stedman. Australian author. Set in a fictional town but loosely based in southern WA where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern ocean. At a fictional lighthouse (though there is one down there in Augusta, which is on the mainland, not on an island like the story.) I couldn't put it down! I read the real thing, like, with pages and all!

If your budget is limited, here is a link to an Amazon Discussion about free Romance books available on Amazon. There are plenty of other threads with different genres of books. I have personally downloaded hundreds and hundreds of free books, and some of them are terrific. Anything by Lori Ryan, Delaney Rhodes, the Hands of Time Trilogy by Irina Shapiro.

I'm not into E-books either, but the last good book I read was The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on their next book The Long War, when it comes out in paper back (they are cheaper and take up less room on the book shelves than hard covers).

What is "The Long Earth" about. I have heard of it but don't know much about the Author

Terry Pratchett writes the Discworld series, he's mainly a fantasy writer. Stephen Baxter is more Sci-Fi. The Long Earth is hard book to describe, but basically it's about what happens when when an almost endless chain of multiple earths are discovered and how to get to them.

Re-reading the James Clavell series as ebooks at present. Haven't touched them as real books since I was at high school.

Sounds great, I have all of his books also Wilbur Smith. I would like to read "Wirlwind" again. I also have all Movies of James Clavell. Now in my old (elderly) age I find it easier to use my E-Reader

While I'm not into E-books, I have had some great reads recently. Anna Funder's Stasiland and All that I am; Ian McEwan' Sweet Tooth - wondered way he was writing in the first person - as a woman - at the last sentence, I just said: 'Wow". Anthony Horowitz (TV director)'s new book about Sherlock Holmes The House of Silk. All read more than once and enjoyment only increased
