I heard on the T.V. this morning that we have had the highest number of organ donors ever at 145 donations up to the end of November. it is so good to see organ donors (organ or body) wishes being honored by their surviving family members. I have been an organ donor for many years now & I have recently donated my body to the university of Queensland. I wear a medical alert that specifies these two options. My hope is that many more people will make it their decision to also support people who have currently no hope for their future.

I have always wanted to donate my organs when I eventually pass away, because it will keep someone else alive! I'm only 17 years of age and from Victoria but I will definitely place myself on the organ register as I believe in saving other people's lives for a good cause!

You are never to young nor to old to donate. Good on you for doing so, who knows it may be someone close to you that needs an organ replacement & won't it be wonderful if there is someone out there that was an organ donor & their gift gave life to someone you know.

It is so good & heartwarming to hear from other people that are of the same mindset as me. I also have an adult son who has for many years now donated blood on a regular basis. I am au-able to give blood as I am on permanent medication which makes blood donation not an option for me. I am proud of all of you & me that we are making an informed decision to give back to the community. Thank you.

They can have whatever is needed from me. I have personally known 2 people to have heart transplants, and another with double lung transplants. So this subject is close to my heart.
Its a shame that it is not compulsory to have your organs donated, but I realise all the concerns regarding this.

I have also donated all of me for whatever use they can make of me! I have had some illnesses & some parts might not be useful to recipients, so the doctors can have those for whatever. Other parts will help someone. I feel proud that even in death I can help at least one person who deserves to live life well.

I have also donated all my organs and my family know about it. I think in life we have choices when we are well and healthy. Unfortunately when someone gets seriously ill or has a terminal illness they have to seek help and their choices are out of their hands. Therefore, to be able to assist someone to live a better life when they have no choice of their own, as well as to ease their pain and suffering as well as the suffering of their loved ones, gives me a really good and happy feeling.

I've filled in the options for organ donation but would love to be able to give blood now while I'm still here. I lived in the north for many years and so was excitied when I moved close to Geraldton being able to start donating blood again. It lasted about 2 years and then they closed that collection centre. I now have to travel at least 590km to Perth to be able to give. They don't even send mobile collection trucks North. At the moment I only get to give once a year when I visit family in Sydney.
I know the blood bank is often calling for donations. If you live outside of a major city you just can't help.
