I have type 2 diabetes. When I stopped work I lost 12 kg and my sugar level is now at a normal level with one tablet. I think it is less sitting and less stress.

I hope you can find something that will work for you. I am having so much trouble too. I am on lantus and actrapid and since stopping smoking am finding it very hard to lose weight. It seems like my body needs me to smoke to function.
Anyway am trying my hardest and nothing is working. I have cut my portions down from a huge plate to a very small plate. I eat supposedly healthy lunch/snacks like rice cake with cottage cheese and maybe a gherkin or tomato slice.
My main meal is a breakfast of 2 slices toast, 2 eggs and 2 teaspoons of baked beans. I need this to sustain me through 2 aqua aerobics classes. I also have a banana after class if my blood sugar has dropped too much. Some days it is fine as I haven't worked as hard.
I don't have chips hot or cold, pasta, fried foods, chocolate etc anymore. I do have 2 or 3 milk arrowroot biscuits with my morning cuppa instead of 3 scotch fingers or cake like I used to. Every thing about my diet has changed but I am heavier not lighter,. I also drink water or coconut water. No fizzy drinks for me.
Good luck.
Hopefully you can find something to help you.
I am going to ask to see an endrocronologist next time I go to the doctor see if I can get any help there.

Martina I am an elderly disabled invalid. I really need help to lose weight. My main problem I think is I am on Prednione. Despite this my blood sugar & Blood pressure are both healthy. My diet is fairly good I admit I cheat occasionally although I have tried to be better lately.
My GP told me I am suffering from Insulin Insufficiency. I make insulin but cannot use it as exercise is very difficult for me. I suffer a couple of Auto Immune illnesses, arthritis also osteoporosis. I do not have Diabetes but suffer Neuropathy quite badly at times. I am sorry to hear it is very long & involved eating raw. Is there anyone you cn points us to on the web please?

My dear friends,
There is so many ways to overcome these disease first you need a cleanser if you are willing to listen and put into practice some simple remedies. First have a sun bath every morning before ten o'clock have a wholemeal diet will stop the craving exercise drink a lot of water and if you can have a raw diet start few days at a time and increase that's the fast way to loose weight and much more contact me and i will tell you what to eat and not to eat and I use some natural remedies that work well as well.

I to have been told I am insulin resistant but the difference is the specialist said it isn't true diabetes .I am on medication have a great GP who only thinks it necessary to see an endocronigist 2 a year .I know I have had a hormone inbalance for over35years and nlw on diabex XR 500 I have lost weight and have since found it has been successfully used in USA for 16 year which makes you mad when you think of some of the horrible things said by Drs because they didn't have the answers. I believe with the support of my GP don't let scares rule your life. Eat sensibley all in moderation and try the trick of 6 small meals a day to keep matobilism working. I know insulin is a large contributor to weight increase so you need the right Dr who will listen so like anything else you are the consumer act like one and find the right person for you.Everything inmoderation is the key food exercise they are allin the same catorgory. Just as an aside my father was type 2 diabetic on 4 different needles a day had to change endocrologinists first thing was to change the type of inslin then gradually lessen the dose he now has no insuin at all and lost 45kg which is too much so now we have to get weight on him! So don't just accept be proactive ask questions it's your body your life be involved in what happens.Good luck.

Hi everyone - I have found that once I injected insulin I put on weight. I went down to 72 kg and afterwards went to 81 kg gradually. I am in the process of upping the insulin level slowly and can feel the weight going on after injecting. I am not sure how this works out. However, I keep trying to work things out. I don't drink soft drink at all now, only water and tea. Keep up the good work as this is a life time process of learning. I think it is a matter of having a third portion of carbs with protein etc., and having to work out the insulin level. it all takes time.

I have diabetes type 2 , i am finding it a struggle to lose weight but my problem is not so much sweets dilemma(i have found Foodland sell sugar free ice blocks! & Cheap as chips sell sugar free chocolate!, so i no longer feel like im missing out on those naughty foods!) My problem is actually trying to cut down my proportion of food. I seem to be always hungry!!I am going to visit a Hypnotherapist to do the hypno-banding,will have to let you know how i go with that, its supposed to make a person believe they have had the operation so therefore they actually eat less and actually pick healthier choices. Will get back to you once i have undertaken this though.

Hi snowflake.brat. I haven't seen sugar-free ice blocks in my area yet but I buy sugar-free soft drinks that are very tasty (diet drinks leave a nasty after-taste). Good luck with the hynotherapist as I know it works - just not on me. I went to a weekend retreat to try the Hypnotic Lapbanding Surgery conducted by Mark Stephens and it worked on everyone else but me. However, I bought their MP4 player with motivational, relaxation and hypnotic sessions on it and I have never felt better mentally and emotionally - I just can't lose weight. I think it has something to do do the medications and high doses of insulin I take but the doctors are no help at all - they keep telling me to reduce my portions - if I do that I won't eat anything at all. let me know how you go.

Buy Diabetic Living magazine - good advice, good recipes. As for weight - it depends on the person and if you are into exercise - recommendations are that to walk at least 30 minutes a day (I have found this good) and also to do an extra walk for 30 minutes if you can. Your local Community Centre may have exercise classes of all sorts. Also swimming is good. It is a very personal thing to control weight and Diabetes.

Thank you for replying Kerry, I do buy Diabetic Living magazine and find it very helpful and motivativing and the recipes are very tasty. I go to the gym 3 days a week to do circuit work for an hour but I find walking difficult because of a ruptured achilles tendon. During summer I go to the pool and walk up and down, again I can't swim as I can't move my foot and keep sinking.
