Those butter products like Flora Proactive absolutely do work.
I have seen it first hand with both of my parents
As well as Exercise and a good diet all do work and help.

bonrob, most of the suggestions will be good so far, only i'd go easy on the red meat. The other thing i'd eat is baked beans. They have heaps of fibre. Rolled oats for breakfast with honey. Go easy on normal sugar and other starches, they are converted to cholesterol in some people.

one of the best food for lowering cholestral is fish is a good source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids which has been shown to lower LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol. In particular, omega 3 fatty acids are noted for its triglyceride-lowering power. some other foo such as nuts which are rich in fiber, phytonutrients and antioxidants such as Vitamin E and selenium. These tasty snacks are also high in plant sterols and fat - but mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which have all been shown to lower the bad LDL cholesterol. remeber also that you dont need to over do it, small porportion meals are the best for a healthy diet

All of these help lower cholesterol:
1. Oatmeals, oat bran and high-fiber foods
2. Fish and omega-3 fatty acids
3. Walnuts, almonds and other nuts
4. Olive oil
5. Foods with added plant sterols or stanols

I read that honey mixed with cinnamon in hot water as a drink was supposed to work (tastes disgusting though so i just stuck to a daily bowl of porridge).

No fast food and at least 1 meal consisting of only raw nuts, 2-3 pieces of fruit & maybe a slice of bread using 'nature's butter' (avocado) & vegiemite.

Foods containing monounsaturated fats lower LDL (low density lipoprotein), ie. bad cholesterol. There is evidence to suggest that they also raise HDL (high density), or good cholesterol. Eat red meat, whole dairy, nuts, olives, avocadoes.

Avocado's are also good to lower cholesterol use it as a spread instead of butter.

I think fish oil capsules help! My cholesterol was through the roof the last time I had blood tests. Today I got the news that it was perfect. I haven't done anything exciting to reduce my cholesterol, I have watched what I eat, cut back on fatty foods, tried to reduce snacking between meals, also limit white bread, bakery foods etc, the only thing I did do was start using three high potency odourless fish oil tablets a day, worth a try I guess. Lots of vegetables as well, and less meat helps also! Good luck!
