I have a great little black bob tailed cat. I can get frozen peas etc from the freezer...not a problem. As soon as I get the ice cream out he will stand at my feet and carry on a treat. If I don't give him a wee portion in his own bowl he will attempt to climb my leg and paw the plate. He adores the stuff. He doesn't have it often. Is ice cream OK for cats??

No sure about cats but I wouldn't give it to dogs at all, especially if they have diabetes. Yes, dogs can definitely get diabetes. I don't know about cats.

cats are lactose intolerant it builds up in their system and can eventually kill them, I wouldnt make a habit of it.

Our cat just loves icecream, especially if he gets the cone as well. We only give it to him occassionally,I don't see the harm, especially when you can hear him purring across the room

hi frogette, cheese, yogurt, evaporated full cream Carnation/ Bear brand milk are good for cats, due to the enzymes used in the processing. That removes the lactose from the milk, so its virtually 'lactose free' Its true that normal milk and cream will give cats the runs, can be very distressing for old or sick cats.Add an egg yolk to fortify it,that goes for baby kittens and puppies too. Just watch them thrive.(a tip from my vet nurse days) -Simla

No you shouldnt give your cats Icecream or any dairy Products.Milk will give you cat diare or the runs & choclate will kill your kitty. I own two Bengal cats & for a treat o will cook Birdseye crumb fish portions, but ill remove the top layer of crumbs 1st & let it cool down to room tempture. Also raw chicken necks are really good for their teeth & will save you money at the vets and also stop your cat from wanting to kill birds too..lest it dose with my male cat

Dairy products aren't great for cats but mine are a little the same but with cheese! I personally don't see the harm in giving them a little occasionally!
