i'm really curious about what bizarre and sudden tastes pregnant women develop, either cravings or can't-stand-its. here's a few stories:
- the first sign one of my friends had that she was pregnant was that she couldn't bear even the smell of zucchini, which otherwise she loved
- by 3 months in my daughter couldn't get enough pickled cucumbers. i reckon she could live on them for the whole 9 months
- a long-time vegetarian friend craved meat, and once the baby was born all interest in it vanished

tell us your pregnant food stories - the nuttier the better!

cravings are your bodies way of saying you are not eating properly and your brain knows it can get what is missing from what food
if you eat properly pregnant or not you will not have cravings of any sort

This will crack you up or make you feel queasy. My ex had the weirdest craving I have seen. She would eat one bar of Palmolive Gold soap each day. True Story. YUCK!!!

I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant at the moment, and have been craving all sorts of weird and wonderful things. I can't get enough of ice - I love it because it's nice and cool (especially as we're coming into summer), it's just frozen water so it's good for me and bub, but it's the texture of the ice I crave, whether I chew it or just suck on it, I cannot get enough of ice.

Earlier on in my pregnancy I couldn't get enough of mushrooms... Sad to say that that run seems to be over because it's now something that triggers a mad rush to make the porcelin express on time.

Another thing I have a love/hate relationship with is dairy; sometimes we get along fine, other times I need to stay far away from it, which is sad because I do love milk and sometimes it's all I want when I know I wont be able to stomach it. It's definitely a love/hate relationship at the moment.

I've been eating rather odd combinations (my poor husband keeps gagging!!) mango and olives, dipping pretzels in natural yoghurt, mango and cheese, oranges and salt.

Apparently if I manage to keep down the cod fish oil tablets it will help reduce the cravings but sadly haven't managed it yet!

My favorite foods I can't eat - strawberries and spinach 2 foods I normally eat all the time and can't go near them at the moment! I'm hoping this passes quickly!

In my first pregnancy I craved meat and eggs. My second pregnancy I didn't. In both I could not drink coffee at all and I lost my taste for spicy food which I love!

Before I even knew I was pregnant I could not drink coffee. Not thatI didn't like it, I just servedit and left it on the table, untouched. But I ate anything with lemon and tabasco sauce on it (cucumbers, fruit, chips, etc) I also used to drink a lot of cordial but since I got pregnant I can't even stand the smell of cordials...

my sister-in-law developed an aversion to soy sauce.
I craved thai and vietnamese food and the smell of raw meat put me off. Worst of all for me was the smell of coffee

I used to be a summer fruit nut! I would buy a box of mangoes, a box of nectaries, a box of peaches and 2 boxes of cherries every summer. The summer I was pregnant with my second child, I ate 1 mango and a handful of cherries. Just the thought of eating summer fruits made my tummy (and my baby) do backflips. Now, 2 years later, I still can look at summer fruits without my stomach turning. Even thinking about it now is making my stomach turn!

When I was pregnant and I had something that I really liked-I made this yum, yum noise. When my daughter was born and I would be breastfeeding her she would give the same noise that I made
