Home brand vs named brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

slutguts says: I think it depends on what the product is. Something like flour, j have seen at the mill, the same flour is put into all the bags - organic, name brands, no brands - all the same flour. But there are lots of things where people can taste or notice the difference. As a uni student I usually go for the cheaper option (like with milk, I can't taste the difference so why would I pick and expensive brand) but other things like eating chocolate, I will stick with brands like lindt and Cadbury because the quality and last are linked with the brand
