It would be irresponsible to sell off our assets and these should be supplied and ownership kept in Australia

We are a country which should be self sufficient as we have many assets and therefore should be able to cope

Tricha

No our Assets and responsibilities should remain Australian owned as we are do not need a foreign country to oversee what should be overseen by us

No these are or were Australian assets purchased by our fore-fathers and it is wrong to sell them off when other countries take pride in their own.

All sales of major government assets should be put to a referendum to let the people decide,not left in the hands ,only by politicians and their friends.To sell less than the true assett value is stupidity in the extreme.

Hi passum, I/we where into light engineering products but at nearly 72 I am too old to start up again. Now I am into Lawn Bowls and enjoying life with what money I have left. I am still disgusted with the current batch of politicians who will sell off anything to make a name for themselves, as you say it was a great idea?

Hi !Ted. What did your firm produce. This share partner ship seemed like a good idear, where it works, for, everybody because the workers work harder to get the end result the boss is looking for that is work stability and better profits for all when conditions are fair as You say I wonder what realy happened. Usualy some body has to complain before unions become involved. Thank you for agreeing no public utilities should be allowed to sold off. Better luck with future enterprises in the future. Please try to establish another share partnership with employes try for some gov funding in the green energy field. { Passum }

Hi passum! The simple answer is NO public group, Water,Gas, Power should be allowed to be sold off for any reason as they are what they are Public Companies run by a political party for the people they serve. I once had a small company! the workers where happy I was happy instead of pay rises I gave them (the employes) shares it was performing well until the unions got the hands in!!

Hi Ted! Ever wondered how we in Australia got all of those good working conditions they were not given to us by the owners of most off the old australian employers. It was the workers going for better conditions that put us in a position where we can expect to go to work and come home in one piece not a coffin like the old days , ever wondered why we have reasonable roads, sewer systems, water supply, electricty, gas, etc, rail ,its all because of workers of past doing their bit for Australia these workers were mostly Unionists with the workers interests, Health and safety and a decent wage and a fair go for all. No one went on strike for no reason as when on strike you did not get paid so I think you may have the wrong impression of the unions of old.Any way that does not help the problem should have our Energy Sector been sold off at a loss at all. Especialy to an overseas company in my area that is,
{Energy Australia to China}

Hi passum,
Looking at the problem from a owners poit of veiw you make good profits from good worksmanship the next thing unions are hammering you for a pay rise for the workers instead of being able to put the money back into the company to improve production and conditions then we have a government that will tax you to the hilt so in many ways it is no wonder companies are closing down and moving overseas then the unions complain about loosing positions in Australia and then there is no-one in Australia to buy the closed down industries or if there is they can get more money from O/S and so dear friend we as Australians are the big loosers.

Good morning! Ted. Yes I agree Australia is being sold off at an allarming rate to oversease investers we should be exporting finished products or semifinished products not the materials from they are made but the problem lies with us were dont take notice until its too late { Like the Electricty sell off.} No forein government should be able to own land in an anothers country for any reason .

Hi Passum, I agree with your idea of a referendun,as far as China goes tho it already owns quite a lot of our farmland so why not a bit or lot more of our industries. It might sound rasict but I have always believed that Australia should be Australian not pom,Singaporean,Indonesian or American then we might get the benefits again that we used to many years ago.

Hi ! Ted, Welcome aboard the conversation its good that some people take notice, yea I recone our treasure has a lot to answer for selling off assets for a short term gain any money need to spend on the energy grid should have been paid for out of mining royalties and major consumers of energy.Not the average person in the street who indirectly do own public utilities ,not the government of the day. This should have been done by referendum to obtain a concensis of what the user wanted. {passum (Ron)}

Australian assets should be held by Australians Once the assets are sold what generates funds for the Govt? Australian power suppliers should be in Australia and owned by Australians...And why is electricity so dear and about to rise again when we have the resources here in this country?

at my age I would never recover the outlay unless I live another 10 years.....we are thiinking of putting it on the shed built out the back as it has no electricity connected to it....Might not be too expensive for just a shed...I would still like a tank. We had a plastic cover on the ones at our previous address. els

Hi Els., Ive got water tanks too but u would definitly not drink what comes out of them after cleaning the sedement out of them I even have a run in filter system to prevent this happening. this sediment appears to grow from bird dropings .Any way geting back to energy do u have solar yet I do and it helps to reduce my power bill that is one way to beet them but it will take a long time to recover your outlay if you install something largenough to become energy neutral. passum

Dear Els at least one person cares enough about what is happening to our services, will it be ourdrinking water next.

Hasn't that already started with Toowoomba people drinking recycled toilet water? And where I live we go and buy drinking water because there is so much stuff put in the town water is is revolting. We are trying to fit a tank into our yard but as it is a small place I do not think it will work. If the Govt subsidised tanks again it would surely be a plus els
