I'm sitting here with a cover as always over the printer, with my faithfull cat curled up on it. He will be 1yr old next march. He is called "Little Billy". I love that he has the whole house to curl up in, but he would rather be right by my side!

It doesn't matter what animal you have they are part of the family, and should always be treated as such. I have an Angora White Rabbir "Midge" he started out as a DWARF Rabbit called Midget but grew into an Elephant so had to shorten his bame as he sure wasn't a Midget. He thinks he is a dog,and I love him to bits.

Hi lovers of cats! this discussion has been purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect for those of us who have many stories about the antics our feline "furkids" get up to. I think people who love cats are generally nice and seem to have a special something about them. My younger daughter has a Manx is that how you spell it (no tail) called Mr. Pudd. He is adorable and has an amazing character. My little grandson loves him and they often just look at each other adoringly!
When my grandson first met my cat he was fascinated at the fact that my cat had a tail! On that note I wish you all a prrrrrrrrrrrfectly nice day!

I had two cats before I came to New Zealand loved them very much, Mittens and Miss Muppet. They always slept on my bed. I miss them so much, had to leave them when I moved. Which was 12 years ago, I guess they would be at the rainbow bridge now looking forward to see them again on the other side.

My cat loves being with me in the study. Whenever she sees me go in she runs after me and jumps straight up on the desk.

Hey Cat lover havalaugh you are my kind of people! My cat can't wait for me to take off my dressing gown so she can curl up in it for the night! Our cat is so spoilt and has my husband and me firmly wrapped arpound her paws. She speaks to us and I know what she is saying?? We live in an apartment so she is an inside/balcony cat and has a loo with a view! Seriously she sits on her kitty litter loo and watches the passersby on the street below! A bird often comes and sit on the balcony and she just sits and watches it and makes no attempt to catch it and the bird does not appear to be frightened. Maybe the bird realises the cat can't chase it. My cat is jealous of my computer because it is on my lap - that is where she used to curl up until I got my netbook. Now she has to sleep beside me on the lounge. I love cats!

lol ... about the dressing gown :~) My two cats do the same. Its like there is a special cat magnet on my dressing gown. I get harrassed by Michael (my male cat) to sit on my lap as soon as I have it on. When I take it off and put it on my bed, there will be Michael and Abby (my girl) curled up on it instantly.

I can never understand why some people give up their cat when there is a baby on the way. Ok some cats do like to sleep on beds or may even try to sit on you when asleep but is there any proof of a cat smothering a baby to death?
We had 2 cats when I got pregnant and the cats were fascinated with this tiny bundle we brought home. The male cat CC became our son's protector, anytime he was outside, CC would be there looking out for him. Once I was out at the pool and my son was with me, CC didnt see me and rushed up to my son to protect him from going near the pool. When my son would ride his bike on the street (quiet cul-de-sac) CC would sit at the edge of the road and keep a look out for him. Im sure CC thought he was a dog really! CC died at the age of 18 and the whole family mourned our special friend, (Im tearing up just thinking of this)

I had a cat just like CC as well his name was David aka Dave. He was the most loyal cat to our family and did things like CC. He would sit at the opening of our long drive way whilst my son road his little bike. When my father was about to pass away in hospital he jumped up and laid on my chest to comfort me. He never sat on your knee, I knew he new something was wrong! We buried him in the back yard. I wrapped in my childhood beach towel as he was so sick from cancer in the end there was 4 at the funeral, which isn't a bad send off for a cat. My David will be forever in my heart...(my turn to tear up now)

That’s so sweet! I LOVE cats and dearly miss our old cats but unfortunately had to give them to a good home as I found out that I’m allergic 

Oh that is such a shame you had to give your kitties away. I have 3 cats and am asthmatic and allergic to them (my eyes swell up if I touch them and then my eyes) but I love them too much to give...

I'm the same..I get allergic reactions and thought after we lost the last of one lot we had that I would never get anymore. My resolve lasted a week and saw a kitten I fell madly in love with. They are so affectionate and are very calming when you've had a stressful day. My cats are getting pretty old now and will miss them when their time comes but don't think I could live without them. I had also decided no more dogs but ended up with another 2 but wouldn't swap them for anything.Like you VivK I need to clean the place regularly but it's worth it.

I've had pets ever since I was a baby. Somehow lots of strays turn up on my door. I've been able to keep some over the years and have had to rehouse some. The most recent addition to the family was a kitten WITH KITTENS of her own, that I found at work one day hiding in the bushes. I managed to take her and kittens home to my other 2 cats! they all got along well and I managed to rehouse all the kittens after 3 months of care at my house. The mother cat (since named Taffy) and I bonded so well that I kept her.
Anyway my point here is that I love animals and they love me - my allergies recently became so bad - I have struggled with them since I was 14 years old - that I eventually gave in and allowed the doctor to test what I was allergic to. It was no surprise to hear that I was severely allergic to all pollens - grasses and flowers, but to my HORROR the results showed that I was severely allergic to animal dander!!!!
The doctor advised that I should no longer have pets. BUT I wouldn't have that! I'll stick to taking antihistamines as I have to take them for pollen allergies anyway - it's not like I can get rid of all the flowers and grasses in the world LOL, so I figure why not continue my love affair with animals too.
I do the same and wash hands and face after cuddles with puss (many times a day) and have recently moved into a house with mostly wood floors and tiles, which makes it easier to keep a control of the fur and dust.

As long as I keep the house clean (keep the cat fur and dust to a minimum) and make sure I wash my hands after patting them, I am fine. I keep some antihistamine eye drops in case I rub my eyes too. I know my allergies arent as bad as some though but love my babies too much to ever give them away.

That's it, their a comfort and make your house feel like a home! As I'm getting older I'm even getting closer to animals.
