Hi there, i am three months pregnant and am suffering every day from almost debilating headaches, has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you deal with it beside the useless paracetamol?

Make sure you drink plenty of water ~ this is a good rule of thumb for any headaches but particularly when you are pregnant ~ not only do you need to keep your brain lubricated but you are changing your amniotic fluid every 2 hours ~ that's a lot of water you need to keep your babies home clean and still have enough for the rest of your body!!

firstly I presume you have consulted a Dr about this, firstly its your 1st trimester so your body is changing more than it ever has had too before make sure you keep your iron levels up and also take a good multi-vitimin for pregancy like elevit recommended by Drs around the world dont keep it to yourslef and just talk to other preganant mums as we are all so different, keep up the red meat and fish - pregnancy can be controlled when you eat better and exercise with it, small walks... ALSO rest when you feel you need too, if you work then well thats another topic - Contratulations and good luck

Have you tried the pressure point arm bands, I have had friends who have sworn by them and have been too scared to even take them off. I thankfully have had 2 pretty good pregnancies so I can't vouch myself but they might be worth a go.

Hi kelcmini,
Hopefully by now the headaches have gone and your pregnancy is progressing smoothly. But I'd also add to the previous advice... make sure you're really drinking plenty of fluids and keeping up the dietary fibre, as tending to being constipated which seems to go along with being pregnant, can also contribute to headaches.

Both my pregnancies were full of headaches and nausea. Lavender or peppermint in an oil burner helps, sipping water all day to keep hydrated, small rests throughout the day and as much sleep as possible! Good luck with the headaches and congrats!

Hi Kelcmini,

I suffered the same thing:( Chamomile tea really helped keep my migraines at bay, I would sip on it several times a day. I also found staying away from all caffeine worked wonders! Having to give up my daily black tea was worth it, although difficult at first. I also stayed away from tomatoes and related products as anything tomato based I ate during pregnancy seemed to trigger a migraine for me. Lastly, I tried to relax and not stress too much and I also took a daily 30min walk in the afternoon air every afternoon and that also was great for my mind and body and warded off bad headaches! Hope this helps. And best wishes for you and your bub!

Mandy:)
