JULIA GILLARD is a dictator , she doe's not care about the people plus she is a liar, as with the carbon tax, when she was elected, NO WAIT when she back stabbed RUDD, any way back to the carbon tax when some one put it to her that she has gone back on her word she just laughed, great get rid of her, any way labour always gets us into dept, i know a lot of people didn't like HOWARD but he ran the country well and had all the surpless that now labour has spent

I don't like Julia Gillard, or Tony Abbott for that matter! I was not happy when Kevin Rudd became PM, and where he may not have been my preferred leader, I have to admit that, if before I doubted his ability to run Australia in a positive manner before, I certainly don't now. Julia Gillard in my opinion is going to lead her country her way, I'm not sure her way is the best way. As I previously mentioned, I do not feel warm and fuzzy towards Mr Abbott, but if there was another election, I would personally vote for him in a heartbeat. I believe too many politicians have huge ego's and limited knowledge as to what is best for the welfare of their country. No! I do not believe Julia Gillard will or ever could be as good a PM as Kevin Rudd, but this is my personal opinion only!

I'm a Labor voter and will continue to do so. Liberal/National do not support the working class.

Nope i dont i think Kevin Rudd would make a better Prime Minister, From what i have seen he seems more down to earth and a typical Joe blog, As for Julia Gillard, She comes arcoss as being a stuck up cow.
If she gets in Aussie will be in big trouble. My vote is for Kev

I agree with 'spabath' about Julia Gillards' unfortunate giggle.
It shouldn't matter that she is female rather than male but we do tend to favour a 'tough' image for our leaders and this will not sit well with a lot of people.
That aside, the way she toppled Kevin Rudd will probably go against her even further in the public eye.
In my opinion the general public was very in favour of Kevin - it seemed to only be the media that said we did not like him.!!
As for Tony Abbott - where are his policies -apart from slashing and burning funds.

Yes ... bloody mess in her portfolio, as Deputy PM and the confidence of the electorate to vote for a woman. As a woman I have waited to see the day women are recognised as competent leaders. ...

Sorry spabath there are some tough women around that could do the job but I dont think Julia is the one

Julia is becoming ridiculout and relying on that funny giggle and the women's vote. I am a woman and supportive of women. However, I do not appreciate treachery and Julia is only a puppet for the factional leaders who are MEN. No vote for Julia, although I did vote for K Rudd.

It is a shame that people like you vote for a person and not a party. I think that the views of the party should be considered befire the leader.

Oscar

Yes we should vote for the party however the leader of that party has to be a leader not a puppet, comedian or a celebrity for that matter. the leader has to make governing decisions without the party throughawway lines. So maybe the policies that seem so reversable are less important than the person who stands at the head of our great country, that is why I will not support Labour as they believe it is a popularity contest by the actions recently displayed.

Fair enough, we would never agree on voting methodoligy, however, don't you agree with me that we are lucky we live in a country where we can disagree?

Good point Phil. Democracy is a wonderful contributor to our great Australian way of life. I will always agree to disagree. We can usually back up our opinions with good cold hard facts. All the best. GO THE COALITION ( for this election). Looks like Labor is about to change its tactics. Poor Julia.

I do vote for a party and its policies and I voted Labor at the last election because I believed it was time for a change. Also, Kevin Rudd did sell Labor's policies very well. However, it seems to me that Labor has not chnged its ways with the same old beliefs that factions rule. Julia has been misguided and was a major player in the Rudd Government and its poor decisions. I do not owe loyalty to any political party. I am certainly not persuaded to vote for Tony Abbott because I like or dislike him. However, I have come to the conclusion that the Coalition definitely handle our money much better. If it wasn't for the huge surplus left to Labor, Australia would have not survived the fallout of the GFC.

I'm not sure that Julia will be any different to Kevin to be honest. They are both told by the "party" how to run the business etc., and so far it doesn't seem to be any different in as much as changes in policy etc. I personally don't like the way she got the top position, but that's how the game is played in all parties it seems.
As for a women being top dog, that doesn't worry me, we have had several female Premiers in various states, including here in WA, and to be honest, they seemed to do a pretty decent job, so let's see how she goes in the future.

Hmmm I've just answered a similar question and here is my response.....

Women are accustom to assuming additional responsibilities with distraction while performing a single role. Women seek likeminded people to achieve common goals with great achievements!

I take my hat off to Kevin Rudd for caretaking Australia under a very difficult economic climate. However, Kevin's reactiveness to the oppositions distractions played heavily to his unfortunate demise. Julia Gillard is not easily distracted by repetitive bad behaviour and for that alone will win many female votes!

I wish Julia and those who support her well the very best in 2010 and the future!.

the new Prime Minister could be a better one. Trouble is that most wheeling and dealing are done at "gentlemans clubs" or where the lads usually hang out.I also believe that the media by there persistant irritanting questioning forced the issue. They had nothing in this period to talk about so that they had to invent a situation.

Hiya lakshmiprabbha & Others,

I think she will be more popular for sure, and I must say I did not see this coming. I think it's an unusual way how or who ever just automatically becomes the New PM. I understand it's liek the next person in line.
Anyway I give my congratulations to her, good old Adelaide girl. Its refreshing to have her as our new PM.
Will she be returned? This is the question.

I thought Tony (Bugie Smugglers) Abbott was very gracious in his words to Mr Rudd and to Julia. I think he came out a winner of today as well, of the way he spoke about both people, was sincere and genuine, had an element of humanity about it. So a well done to Mr Abbott as well.

Cheers,
Lise

I wonder if he read it from a piece of paper, apperently that is when you can believe him, if he said it of the cuff he usualy lies?
